More Than 100 PR Firms Told Their Clients To Ignore The Golden Globes Until They Promised To Follow-Through On Their Diversity Commitment
Last month, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association addressed the big ol’ elephant in the room when three of their members, Vice President Helen Hoehne, Chair Meher Tatna, and President Ali Sar, took to the stage at the 2021 Golden Globe Awards and promised that they’d finally get serious about diversity. Something made all the more obvious by the work that was snubbed this year. The HFPA swore they were going to do something, and they did do something. For example, the Los Angeles Times discovered that the HFPA voted not to hire a diversity consultant. That’s technically doing something, right?
Much like the rest of us, a whole lot of Hollywood PR firms are sick of hearing the HFPA cross their hearts and swear they care about their diversity problem, so they actually did something. Specifically, they instructed their clients to not go to HFPA events until they commit to real meaningful change.
“Emily In Paris” Gave Golden Globe Voters A Luxurious Trip To France…. And Then The Show Got Two Nominations
When the 2021 Golden Globe nominations were announced people were confused by a lot of the things going on. Sure there were some notable snubs like Michaela Cole’s I May Destroy You. But the real fuckery was things like The Prom getting a nomination and Emily In Paris getting two. Well turns out, the Emily In Paris peopled treated Golden Globe voters to a fancy Parisian vacation a while ago, and I’m sure that has NOTHING to do with Emily In Paris‘ head-scratching nominations. Le not at all!
The Golden Globes Made Some Category Changes Including Moving “Minari” To Best Foreign Film
The 78th annual Golden Globe Awards is scheduled to be held on February 28th, 2021, at the Beverly Hills Hilton, with the ceremony hosted once again by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. The nominations will be announced on February 3rd, 2021, just a little over three weeks ahead of the ceremony. And when they are announced, it’s likely that a few movies and actors will join the ranks of The Tourist, The Martian, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood as “They got nominated in WHAT category now?“. Because a whole bunch of movies and actors are getting shuffled around into categories that make little to no sense.
Tina Fey And Amy Poehler Will Return To Host The Golden Globes For A Fourth Time In 2021
It’s official – Ricky Gervais really won’t be back next year to host the Golden Globes. But that doesn’t mean celebrity egos will get any less of a break. Variety says that creep-dragging icons Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have been announced as the hosts of the 2021 Golden Globe awards. Those poor Oscars. They can’t even get one host, and here’s the Golden Globes bragging that they already have two lined up for a ceremony that’s a whole year away.
Emma Stone Shouts Apology For Playing An Asian Person In “Aloha” During The Golden Globes
During the Golden Globes last night, host Sandra Oh made a joke about Crazy Rich Asians, saying that it was the “first studio film with an Asian-American lead since Ghost in the Shell and Aloha.” Now, as you remember Ghost In The Shell and Aloha both cast white chicks as Asian characters. Everyone laughed and laughed, and one person who was laughing out of discomfort and shame, decided she would clear the air live: the quarter-Chinese, quarter-Hawaiian character herself, Emma Stone.
50 Cent Threatens To Quit “Power” Over Its Lack Of Golden Globe Nomination
The nominations for the 2017 Golden Globes were announced yesterday. Of course, some television shows, movies, actors, and actresses didn’t make the list, and that’s bound to make some people mad. 50 Cent, for example, is really pissed off that Power, the Starz show he executive produces and co-stars on, was left out of the category for Best Television Series, Drama. Some people get their anger out by screaming into a pillow. 50 Cent’s pillow is Instagram, and so he threw his tantrum there.
