Open Post: Hosted By “Jeopardy” Fans Thirsting Over Guest Host Mike Richards

February 23, 2021 / Posted by:

Since Alex Trebek passed away in November, Ken Jennings has been squatting at the Jeopardy podium as one of the many temporary guest hosts. Well, I guess Bean Dad finally called him home, because Kenny’s guest-hosting gig ended on Friday. Last night, Jeopardy fans were greeted by a new face: Mike Richards. Who? Well, 45-year-old Mike is actually the executive producer of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. He has some on-camera experience too, as the host of the 2012 revival of The Pyramid, and, wait for it… the second host of The WB’s early-aughts  reality show gripping documentary series Beauty and the Geek! Mike also happens to be a classically handsome man, and Jeopardy fans immediately took notice.

Open Post: Hosted By The Alex Trebek Video Tribute That Opened His Final “Jeopardy!” Episode

January 11, 2021 / Posted by:

The final Jeopardy! episode Alex Trebek filmed before his death aired last Friday. Sigh. The end of an era. Alex’s swan song ep opened with a video tribute montage set to Hugh Jackman singing “Once Before I Go”. It featured clips of the host goofing around, wearing wacky costumes, bringing his kids to set, dancing, then claiming, “I don’t dance”, hosting without pants (at the 0:39 mark, Mom!), sassing contestants, one child contestant sassing his ass right back, and footage of his trademark mustache. The whole thing gave me eye wetness.

Before His Death, Alex Trebek Gifted Land To Los Angeles For A Park And Pre-Recorded A Message For Pancreatic Cancer Day

More proof that Alex Trebek was a Canadiangel™. Apparently, the late Jeopardy! host (and my Momma Nancy’s Forever #1) was a down-low conservationist, donating 62 acres of his land in the Hollywood Hills to the city of Los Angeles back in 1998. It’s called the Trebek Open Space, and it runs into Runyon Canyon park. According to the Mountains Recreation & Conservation Authority, the area is “a sunny, well-established network of fire roads” that “provide trails for hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians.” Oh Alex.

LeVar Burton Responds To Petition Calling For Him To Be The New Host Of “Jeopardy!”

November 14, 2020 / Posted by:

Just in case you’ve forgotten, 2020 sucks (but still survive though!). If you need any further proof for my indifference towards this year look no further than the fact it snatched away Alex Trebek after his valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. That news still stings, however in an attempt to not feel how huge the loss is people have been circulating a petition to have LeVar Burton, of Roots, Reading Rainbow, and Star Trek, take the reigns as host of Jeopardy!, where Alex began his hosting duties in 1984 up until his passing. So far LeVar has been quiet about the petition but is now responding.

Open Post: Hosted By Alex Trebek Cursing Up A Blue Streak

November 12, 2020 / Posted by:

The dearly departed Alex Trebek kept it tight right up to the end, both physically and professionally. For three decades, anyone looking for a stern, erudite zaddy to keep them on task need only to tune into Jeopardy!, available five days a week, to get their fix. That is until… Thankfully, we still have the Jeopardy! archives filled with thousands of hours of Alex being his classy, bougie, moody, sassy, and in some instances, savage self. One particular nugget from archives that’s making the rounds features Alex at his spiciest. HuffPost says the clip is a montage of outtakes featuring “footage of Trebek swearing while filming promos for a telephone version of the game show,” which you can tell he thinks is beneath him. But I’m like, a hotline where I can call 1980s Alex on the phone and have him curse my ass out? I know you can’t see me but I am POUNDING my button so hard right now, you don’t even know.

November 10, 2020 / Posted by:

It’s only been two days since the world lost beloved nightly television game show icon Alex Trebek, host of Jeopardy! for 36 years, after a long battle against pancreatic cancer. Alex continued filming Jeopardy! episodes up until late last month and his final episode will air Christmas Day. And according to The Wrap, there’s already talk about who will take on the impossible task of replacing Alex, and apparently, Good Morning America’s George Stephanopoulos thinks he’s the right person to read clues and Daily Doubles.
