Taylor Swift And Joe Alwyn Are Over After Six Years Together
Taylor Swift has already repeatedly come for the Easter Bunny’s job by dropping all her “Easter Eggs” in her songs, videos, posts, and pretty much everything else she does. And now, Taylor has completely stolen the spotlight from the Easter Bunny during his big co-headlining weekend with Jesus! Because Entertainment Tonight was the first to report yesterday that the Easter Bunny’s nemesis and her boyfriend of six years, Joe Alwyn, broke up a few weeks ago, and it was “amicable.” People co-signs ET’s news that Toe is over. Well, while some of us leave relationships with nothing but a heart full of regrets and a crotch full of crabs, Joe is leaving his relationship with the damn Grammy he won thanks to Taylor. That’s a parting gift almost better than Derek Jeter’s Derek Jeter-themed one-night-stand gift basket.
TayTay and JoJo first met at the Met Gala in 2016 on the same night that she met future ex-boyfriend Tom Hiddleston. A few months after cherubs flew into walls over the tragic news that true love’s favorite couple, Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston, were over, she started dating Joe Alwyn. Compared to Taylor’s other relationships, she and Joe were practically the celebrity couple definition of the Privacy Please sign. There are not a lot of pap pictures of them together, and Joe rarely talked about TayTay in interviews. But he did talk about her last year to The Wall Street Journal while getting into all the engagement rumors about them. via People:
“If I had a pound for every time I think I’ve been told I’ve been engaged, then I’d have a lot of pound coins,” quipped the English actor, 31.
“I mean, the truth is, if the answer was yes, I wouldn’t say, and if the answer was no, I wouldn’t say,” he added of whether he was set to walk down the aisle with Swift, 32.
But TayTay and JoJo did share their true love with the world through their ART! Or her art, actually. Taylor, of course, wrote several songs about Joe, and he wrote lyrics for songs on her albums Folklore and Midnights. When Folklore got the Grammy for Album of the Year, Joe won his first Grammy since he was a producer on the album. And according to ET’s sources, Taylor didn’t send her cats to Joe’s house to awkwardly collect the Grammy he would never have if it wasn’t for her because there’s nothing dramatic about their split. It apparently happened a few weeks ago, which is probably why Joe has been MIA on her current Eras tour.
Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have called it quits. ET has exclusively learned that the “Lavender Haze” singer and the British actor broke up a few weeks ago.
ET has also learned that the split was amicable and “it was not dramatic.” ET’s told “the relationship had just run its course. It’s why [Alwyn] hasn’t been spotted at any shows.” Swift, 33, is currently on her The Eras tour, which heads to Tampa, Florida next week.
It wasn’t so long ago when Swift and Alwyn were said to have been in a great place in their relationship. They started dating in late 2016, and a source told ET back in October that they were “doing great” and that their “relationship is super strong.”
Even though sources say that there’s nothing scandalous or messy about Taylor and Joe’s split, I’m sure her team is still Sharpie-ing in dates for the release of a 6-part break-up album, a 12-part music video series, three short films, two feature films, a Young Adult book series, and a world tour. And as Taylor’s team plans all that, Pete Davidson and Emily Ratajkowski are probably racing to slide into Taylor’s DMs since she’s the only famous person on earth neither of them has dated yet. I don’t know if the world will ever be ready for Pete Davidson (Taylor’s Version).
