Kim Kardashian Wore A Full Face Of Makeup Under Her Met Gala Mask

Because nothing says “a celebration of American fashion” like wearing an outfit designed by a fashion house founded in Spain and currently operating in Paris, Kim Kardashian, who came to the Met Gala in a head-to-toe black stretch fabric costume made by Balenciaga. She looked like a not-smart high-fashion bank robber who forgot she could easily be identified by her butt. But, that’s not to say that Kim didn’t find a way to Kim up her look. Kim didn’t need to wear any makeup under that black mask, but according to her makeup artist, Kim kept it full-Kim under that outfit by wearing a full face of makeup.

Just like in previous years that Kim has walked the Met Gala carpet, Kim became a meme on social media last night when she walked the Met Gala carpet with the person responsible for this mess. Usually, that would be Kanye West, but Kim and Kanye are getting divorced, which means another man had to step in and trick Kim to wear something that has people jumping onto Twitter to crack jokes. People magazine says that Kim’s date was Demna Gvasalia, creative director of Balenciaga. Although really, it could have been anyone under that all-black suit. Here’s Kim in action, inspiring many, many Twitter roastings involving Dementors, the Alien from Alien, and No-Face from Spirited Away.

And if you think Kim’s outfit is the kind of dumb thing you could totally see Kanye throwing on Kim and calling it FASHION, well – you’d be correct, at least according to this source who spoke to People:

“Even though Kanye is not attending tonight, his presence will be felt on the carpet,” a source tells People. “It was Kanye who introduced Kim to Demna and was instrumental in the newly formed relationship between her and Balenciaga.”

He also supported his ex-wife in embracing her new approach to dressing. “This look on Kim is like a new subculture and fashion statement,” the source adds. “No logo, no face, but everyone knows it’s her. Kanye gave her the courage to push creativity and people’s imagination through art. It’s the ultimate confidence.”

It’s true, it takes an insane amount of bravery and confidence for Kim to leave her house covered up like that. Who is Kim if Kim is not giving you Look At Me!!! 23.75 hours of the day? Groundbreaking. Also groundbreaking, Kim’s never-ending need to cover her face in as many oil-based water-resistant creams and powders as a human face can handle. Kim had a face under there, as proven by her longtime makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic. Just in case someone asked if they could take a peek under that mask, I guess? Who am I kidding? It was because Kim was only wearing that mask for as long as it took photographers to get a decent picture. Kim paid a lot of money for that face, she’s not going to let it go to waste behind a later of synthetic fabric.

And she did remove it! Later on in the evening, Kim got rid of her Met Gala entrance look, including the head mask, and replaced it with a pair of futuristic sunglasses and a spandex bodysuit-slash-skirt thing for the after-party. Honestly, she should have left the first outfit on. It was dumb and pointless, but this after-party look is something else. And that “something else” I’m speaking of is what appears to be the cheapest Catwoman costume from the most well-stocked Spirit Halloween.

So lazy, and yet, about 900000% more effort than what we got from Kris Jenner.

Kim’s sister Kendall Jenner was also there, dressed in Givenchy and looking like if Netflix rebooted My Fair Lady as a publicity stunt, and she just so happened to cross paths with new mom Gigi Hadid, in Prada, who is giving me Ariel from The Little Mermaid after wishing to look like Ariana Grande.

And remember how some “insiders” were worried the Met Gala was becoming tacky and cheap because of all the influencers getting invites? Those insiders are probably still recovering today. Because a lot of Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok famous people went to the Met Gala last night. Like beauty influencer Nikki Tutorials (who paid tribute to trans icon Marsha P. Johnson), YouTube person Emma Chamberlain, sister of Charli Dixie D’Amelio (who also channeled her inner Audrey Hepburn, but instead of Breakfast at Tiffany’s is more Complimentary Breakfast Buffet at People’s Jewelers). And of course, the influencer that started all the backlash in the first place, TikTok star-turned-hate watching favorite Addison Rae, in a “vintage” (her words) 2003 Tom Ford gown.

As reported by Cosmo, reception was mixed on Addison’s presence. But I bet everyone wanted to talk to the likes of Addison and Dixie at the Met Gala! They probably couldn’t get a single moment to themselves, because they were constantly being approached by people who were just dying to ask them questions. Like, “Honey, are you here with E! News?“, and “Can I see your press pass?
