Justin Bieber Admits He Has Benefited From Black Culture

Justin Bieber’s Instagram page looks like a Black Lives Matter Bingo card at the moment which I have to chuckle at, but I’m not going to criticize. I would rather see a million pleas for the arrest of the police officers who killed Breonna Taylor than one single #blessed image of Justin’s marital bed. And to his credit, in his most recent post, Justin has taken the unusual step of acknowledging that he’s inspired by and has benefited from Black culture, probably sending The Kardashians into a white hot panic to get their lawyers to send him a cease and desist letter. Which is crazy because you’d think by this point in her legal education, Kim could handle a simple C&D herself.

According to Vulture:

Whether it was being mentored by Usher from the age of 13, drawing from R&B sounds, or idolizing Stevie Wonder and Boyz II Men as a child, you can definitely hear the influence of black artists in Justin Bieber’s pop oeuvre. According to a new Instagram post the singer wrote this weekend, he knows it, too, and he’s planning to give back the best he can.

Of course, considering the fact that Justin’s past racist behavior was documented and shared, he’s got a bigger mess to clean up than most. But there are only so many novel BLM memes he can share! So in a shocking turn of events, Justin actually wrote truthful words about his relationship with Black culture and he didn’t even imply that the power of Christ compelled him to do it!

Not fair, Usher gave Justin a career and anti-racism counseling, but the only thing he ever gave to all those Black women was The Herp! Hopefully Justin will actually follow though with his commitment. I would hate to see Sandra Lee posting about finding a stray half-dead promise to identify ways to be part of much needed change a couple months down the line when anti-racism isn’t as hot as it is right now. #WhereAreTunaAndSushi?
