Jennifer Aniston And Reese Witherspoon Reportedly Got $2 Million Per Episode For “The Morning Show”
“BREAKING NEWS. This just in…I’m still very very rich, bitch” is what Jennifer Aniston would be reporting if she were a real newscaster sitting behind a real news desk. Because Jennifer Aniston, as well as her The Morning Show co-star Reese Witherspoon, are even richer. And it’s all thanks to Apple and their big fat check book.
The Hollywood Reporter recently published a piece all about “Apple’s bumpy road” to TV streaming. THR says that each episode of The Morning Show, of which there are ten episodes a season, costs $15 million to make. The budget sources that blabbed to THR say that a good chunk of that per-episode operating cost is due to how much money they gave to Jennifer and Reese who negotiated $2 million an episode, for both the first and second seasons. That works out to $20 million each season, or $40 million each in total. Or, if you want to get technical, Apple is dropping $80 million on Rachel and Jill Green. That’s a ton of money. I believe that’s roughly 8 or 9 iPhone 11s.
But that’s not actually all they’re walking away with (cries in poor). TSources claim that Jennifer and Reese also negotiated ownership points, and both will serve as producers on the series. Which means they’ll also get paid as producers. The $2 million per episode is just for their performance in what is basically a high-budget Dateline dramatic re-enactment of the 2017 TODAY show messiness. Now Mariah Carey will have an even harder time telling them apart. Mimi – Jen is the millionaire with the caramel hair, and Reese is the millionaire with the vanilla hair.
Although it sounds like Apple doesn’t care how much money is being spent on The Morning Show. THR’s sources claim that Apple (who is worth $1 trillion) has sent reps to the sets of many of their AppleTV+ shows to gift talent with iPhones and iPads.
None of us should really be that surprised if Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon get bumped up a couple of spots on next year’s Forbes list of the highest-paid actresses. With an extra $20 million (or more) from Apple, we might actually see Reese at the top? If that happens, then I eagerly anticipate the TikTok of Reese jumping into a pile of money to a remix of “Rich Girl” by Hall & Oates.
