Kanye West Calls Out Adidas For Holding “Yeezy Day” Without His Approval

I just learned that every August 2 is “National Ice Cream Sandwich Day” and no one bothered to inform me yesterday so that I could partake; so it pains me that I do now know that Adidas also holds “Yeezy Day” every August 2, due to “Ultimate Stunt Queen” Kanye West’s latest grown man-trum. TMZ says that while this is “Yeezy Day’s” third year, the almighty Yeezus is claiming that Adidas has never gotten his input about it, so he decided to tear into them for not consulting him and also aired some of his other grievances with the brand–including again accusing them of stealing one of his (hideous) Yeezy designs for a (hideous) pair of Adidas Originals slides.

Ye sent a DM to Complex’s Instagram yesterday (now that he’s allowed to use his account again) going off about Yeezy Day–where Adidas re-issues some of Yeezy’s most popular styles–being made up without his approval and all of the other ways in which Adidas is fucking with Yeezy: bringing back older styles and colorways, slowing down normal Yeezy production, plundering talent from Yeezy to work at Adidas, and stealing Yeezy designs. via TMZ:

“Adidas made up the Yeezy day idea without my approval. Then went and brought back older styles without my approval. Went and hired a GM of Yeezy without my approval,” West said.

“Took talent on the production side and sprinkled them throughout Adidas originals without my approval.”

Ye also speaks about this in the message…saying, “When I originally ordered Adidas to make more Yeezy slides, the GM lied to my face and said they didn’t have the capacity.”

“Meanwhile, Adidas was copying my slides and making their own versions of the Yeezy slide.”
“Yeezy is 68% of Adidas online sales,” Ye said. “God step in.”

In 2020, Ye’s sneakers reportedly made nearly $1.7 billion in annual revenue.

“God step in?” Pretty sure if God exists, he/she/they has/have other things to worry about like ::broadly gestures to everything else happening in the world right now:: Besides, everyone knows that if God is going to “step in” to any kind of footwear situation, it’s going to be gladiator sandals over those chunky foam prison shower slides. Kanye’s contract with Adidas runs until 2026 and he’s already run through four divorce attorneys, so finding representation to ax the Yeezy/Adidas partnership may be tough; he may just want to stick with coming after Walmart for their Yeezy knockoffs. Kanye’s going to have to come to Adidas with fugly, distressed hat in hand if he wants to keep up this revenue stream. That is, unless soon-to-be ex-mother-in-law Kris Jenner quickly finishes up her new employee orientation…as Adidas GM. The devil works hard, but Kris Jenner works harder.
