Kanye West’s Fourth Divorce Attorney Has Quit

Are you excited about the weekend? Sure, who isn’t. But there’s someone who is likely looking forward to kicking back this weekend even more than you or me, and that’s Kanye West’s former divorce attorney. Because they no longer have to find their phone buzzing in the middle of the night with random questions like, “Is there any way that harassing my ex-wife’s new boyfriend on social media makes me look like the good guy?” Kanye’s latest divorce attorney has decided to split up from their client. And I say “latest,” because this would be Kanye’s fourth attorney that he’s gone through.

Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from Kanye in February 2021, which is a good number to keep in mind while reading this story. Because it’s not like Kim and Kanye have a divorce that’s been going on as long as Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, and their attorneys are dropping like flies due to pure exhaustion or simply aging out of their careers. It’s only been about fifteen months. But I guess working with Kanye is a dog years situation, where a month can feel exponentially longer. The point here is, Kanye was plotting his divorce strategy with attorney Samantha Spector, but Samantha just filed her resignation papers. And it sounds like the reason is likely that Kanye was an Extra Strength Motrin headache of a client. via The Blast:

According to new legal documents, obtained by The Blast, Yeezy’s divorce lawyer Samantha Spector has filed to withdraw from the high-profile family law case.

In the filing, Spector says there has been an irreconcilable breakdown in the attorney-client relationship. Interestingly, there is not a lot more information as to why Kanye is losing his premiere lawyer, except the case will be handled by one of his other lawyers…for now. The person listed in the documents is an out of the state attorney from Pennsylvania that is not a divorce attorney.

As The Blast notes, another lawyer has stepped up, even if they’re not a divorce attorney or from California, where Kim and Kanye’s divorce is being handled. The Blast thinks that might be a problem because Kim is being represented by THEE Laura Wasser. And Kanye is represented by…some random lawyer from Pennsylvania. The Blast adds that Kim and Kanye are nowhere close to being done settling their divorce, so things could potentially get messy.

The good news here is that Kanye won’t be representing himself, no matter how enjoyable that thought might be for the rest of us. Trust me, it would be incredible. You cannot tell me that Kanye wouldn’t have delivered all his testimony, arguments, and rebuttals by way of questionable song.

But how long did Samantha have to suffer as Kanye’s attorney? According to Page Six, all of two months. Samantha took over the case in March from attorney Chris Melcher, after Kanye and Chris allegedly started fighting over the direction of this divorce. And that’s when they were talking! Page Six says that eventually communication broke down between Kanye and Chris, and that’s when Chris split from the scene. So, essentially – Kanye was acting like Kanye. All this sort of tracks with the recent rumors that Kanye has been considering entering a behavioral treatment facility to get himself acting right. Hopefully, Kanye figures things out soon, before he cycles through every available lawyer, and he’s forced to one day say the words, “Your honor, do you have the number of Ally McBeal? Because I have run out of bus bench ads to call.
