Adele Wants To Focus On Music Now That She Doesn’t Have A Las Vegas Residency To Worry About

Adele might have broken the Las Vegas record for shortest pop star residency ever, with about a month between tickets completely selling out and Adele postponing Weekends with Adele, her 12-weekend residency at Caesars Palace. Adele claimed that half her crew and staff were out with COVID, and that even with working overtime, they just couldn’t put together a decent show. Glass-half-full types might have figured that it was only a matter of time before Adele announced when all those postponed shows were going to happen. They might be waiting a while, because Adele’s focus right now is on her music, and I don’t mean the music she was planning on belting out in Las Vegas.

The Daily Mail says that sources claim Adele really wants to take a step back and focus on her music going forward, and it’s all allegedly because of the high-profile promotional tour she went on to promote her latest album, 30. Promo included giant billboards, a headline-grabbing TV special and exclusive interview with Oprah Winfrey, two VOGUE covers, one of those corny 73 Questions videos, and a messy public feud with Peppa Pig. Adele did it all. And apparently, Adele allegedly thought she did too much.

The Mail on Sunday understands the 33-year-old singer plans to ‘go back to basics’ after a high-profile PR campaign to promote her album, 30, including two TV specials.

She is said to have been dismayed when she was interviewed by Australian DJ Matt Doran, only to find he had not listened to her album.

Industry sources suggested that the London-born star wants to revive the type of engagements she fulfilled earlier in her career.

The Australian radio interview they’re referencing is the one in which Weekend Sunrise DJ Matt Doran flew from Australia to London to interview Adele about 30, and had to come clean and admit he never listened to the album. He claimed that he didn’t read the email sent from her label with the link to the album, and after admitting as much, he received a ton of hate online. According to the Mail’s sources, Adele wants to keep interviews and appearances intimate from here on out.

Insiders say this explains her decision to appear at the Brit Awards on Tuesday and on Graham Norton’s chat show this Friday.

A source said: ‘There have been times in the past six months when things got too big. There have been tensions within Team Adele.

‘One minute she was living life away from the limelight, the next she was being interviewed by Oprah Winfrey.’

Sources have previously claimed that Adele clashed with her residency’s set designer and that Ceasars wanted a big, splashy extravaganza while she wanted something more intimate. Others claimed that Adele backed out of the residency to deal with problems she was having with her boyfriend, NBA agent Rich Paul (but Adele has denied there’s anything wrong there).

A source also told the Mail that Adele may be a multi-millionaire superstar, but deep down, she’s just a normal girl from Tottenham who is not remotely big time. And she has claimed that her last meal would be McDonald’s. So I’m guessing that after she had her epiphany about her residency, she walked off the stage at Caesars Palace, changed out of a $14,000 custom gown and into $20 trackies before zipping away in an old brown truck waiting outside the venue, like Madonna at the end of the music video for “Material Girl.” Okay, it might have been a Bentley. She is rich, after all. But it was definitely pointed in the direction of a McDonald’s drive-thru.
