Bill Cosby Is Putting His Comedy Tour On Hold Because Of His Upcoming Civil Trial For Alleged Sexual Assault Of A Minor
Bill Cosby is finding out the hard way that being an ex-con poses a lot of additional roadblocks on one’s path to success. Say what you will about Bill, but before he was incarcerated for AlLeGEdlY drugging and raping Andrea Constand (et al), he was a very popular comedian. Now, even though his conviction was overturned, Bill is struggling to relaunch his career veneer of respectability. TMZ reports that Bill’s planned comedy tour has been put on hold due to an upcoming civil trial in which he is being accused of, big surprise, sexual assault. I mean damn, can this poor old man catch his breath? I sure hope not.
TMZ reports that Bill is being sued by Judy Huth who claims he “pounced on her at the Playboy Mansion in the ’70s, when she was just 15.” A trial date has been set for April of 2022. Bill’s #2 spokesperson Andrew Wyatt (Camille Cosby will always be his #1, so suck it Phylicia!) claims that “Cosby wants to avoid going on tour for the moment because he doesn’t want this dark cloud hanging over his head … as he seems to think the case would become all the media talks about while he toured,” and definitely not because the mere sight of Bill’s busted mug makes people violently ill.
Bill Cosby will NOT be hitting the road anytime soon to tell jokes … because he’s got more legal woes to deal with first, and his team is convinced the media will skewer him during a tour.
Cosby’s rep, Andrew Wyatt, tells TMZ … the comedy tour Cosby was planning to launch is officially on ice — with no resuming date in mind just yet — and he says the reason they’re hitting pause is Judy Huth’s civil lawsuit.
While they’re focused on the media, the reality is Cosby will almost certainly face scores of hecklers and protesters wherever he performs … regardless of current or pending lawsuits. Wyatt adds they’re not pulling the plug due to lack of interest — he claims about a dozen promoters approached Cosby for gigs.
Sure, and it has nothing to do with the uptick in sales of the book The Hecklers Guide to Throwing Human Excrement — And Making it Stick! TMZ also suggests that Bill’s decision to not hit the road with a microphone and the world’s largest grudge might also be because whatever he says in the back room of Paddy Whacks Irish Pub on a Tuesday night, might be used against him in a court of law. The Daily Beast reports that Bill has already been deposed (by Gloria Allred) on the matter. Last month they reported:
On Friday, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Craig Karlan tentatively set an April 2022 trial date for a civil suit against Cosby brought by Judy Huth, who alleges that Cosby sexually assaulted her at the Playboy Mansion in 1974, when she was 15 years old. While the lawsuit was originally filed in 2014, and previously saw Cosby deposed, the legal proceedings took a backseat after Cosby’s criminal problems mounted in Pennsylvania, where he was convicted in 2018 of three felony counts of aggravated indecent assault.
Karlan, however, pushed the case along on Friday, lifting the stay for “all purposes” related to where the litigation stands with respect to the statute of limitations. The judge, however, did not rule on whether Cosby will have to be deposed again for the case—which his defense team has already suggested they will try to block, with the disgraced comedian potentially invoking his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination in the civil lawsuit.
I just have a feeling that Bill probably wasn’t ready with a tight five on literally any subject other than The Persecution of Civil Rights Icon and America’s Dad Bill Cosby.
