The Judge In Britney Spears’ Conservatorship Case Denied Her Request To Remove Her Dad As Co-Conservator (UPDATE)

Before Britney Spears finally spoke up for herself in court and painted her dad/co-conservator, Jamie Spears, as an abusive monster and said that she wants out of her 13-year conservatorship, her court-appointed lawyer, Samuel D. Ingham III, legally requested for Jamie Spears to be removed as her co-conservator. That was in November 2020. Well, Judge Brenda Penny denied that request. The #FreeBritney people will not be pleased and they will require blood in exchange for this. Meanwhile, Iggy Azalea has come out with some details on Jamie Spears which will only increase the bloodlust of Team #FreeBritney.

After Britney called out her father for treating her like a prisoner, including refusing to let her remove an IUD from her body, he put all the blame on her other co-conservator Jodi Montgomery. Jamie claimed that he hasn’t been in charge of Britney’s affairs for two years and Jodi is to blame for her depression. Jodi slapped back via her attorney, saying that she’s been “a tireless advocate for Britney” and added that Britney’s choice to get married and have another child has “never been impacted by the conservatorship while Ms. Montgomery has been conservator of the person.”

Even though Jamie wants us to think that he hasn’t really been a part of his daughter’s conservatorship, he’s still in charge of her finances. Britney wanted to change that. TMZ says that Britney wanted the firm Bessemer Trust to take over sole responsibility for her financial affairs and take all power from Jamie. Judge Penny shot down her request:

Britney’s lawyer, Sam Ingham, actually asked the court to suspend Jamie from conservatorship duties back in November and the judge denied the request back then. We’re told Ingham wanted Jamie replaced by Bessemer Trust, which would have become the sole conservator of her estate, but the judge wasn’t having it.

Ingham, for whatever reason, just let things sit for months — he was supposed to file certain papers for Bessemer’s new role to take effect. Finally — just recently — Ingham filed legal docs that Bessemer be made co-conservator. The judge just approved that, but also said Jamie will stay as co-conservator himself. The judge also reiterated that Ingham’s request to suspend Jamie was denied.

It’s important to note, the judge signed this order keeping Jamie in place AFTER Britney’s testimony last week.

The biggest gag is that Sam Ingham hasn’t even filed the right documents in order for Bessemer Trust to take over Britney’s finances:

By the way, everyone has been assuming Bessemer has been acting as co-conservator of Britney’s estate for months, but turns out that’s not the case. Actually, Bessemer still isn’t a co-conservator — certain documents must still be filed before the judge’s order takes effect.

Bottom line … Jamie has been and continues to be the sole conservator of Britney’s estate.

UPDATE: TMZ reports that Bessemer Trust has decided that they don’t want to get involved in the messiness of Britney’s conservatorship fight with her father so they’re pulling out and will not be in charge of her money. Jamie Spears will remain the keeper of her purse for now.

As for Iggy Azalea, she and Britney worked together in 2015 on the song Pretty Girls which flopped pretty hard. At the time, Iggy said it was hard for singles to do well when the artists involved don’t really promote or perform it. Last week, Iggy said on Twitter that she wasn’t going to say too much about her experience with Britney and her dad because she signed an NDA:

But she sure changed her tune real quick. In a Notes App message, Iggy said she “personally witnessed” Jamie’s abusive behavior and said that Britney is in no way “exaggerating or lying.” via Page Six:

“It’s basic human decency to at the very least remove a person Britney has identified as abusive from her life. This should be illegal…  During the time we worked together in 2015, I personally witnessed the same behavior Britney detailed in regards to her father last week and I just want to back her up and tell the world that: She is not exaggerating or lying… I saw her restricted from even the most bizarre and trivial things: like how many sodas she was allowed to drink. Why is that even Necessary?”

Britney and Iggy performed at the Billboard Music Awards in 2015, and she said that just before going on stage, Jamie handed Iggy an NDA to sign or “he would not allow me on stage.”

“The way he went about getting me to sign a contract, sounded similar to the tactics Britney spoke about last week in regards to her Las Vegas show… Jamie Spears has a habit of making people sign documents while under Duress it seems, and Britney Spears should not be forced to co-exists with that man when she’s made it clear it is negatively impacting her mental health… This is not right at all.”

A fan wondered if Iggy may get sued now but Iggy seems to not give a single shit and basically said “Bring It On.”

Britney’s lawyer has yet to file her request to end her conservatorship, but it’s reportedly going to happen any second now. If Jamie Spears is going to sue Iggy Azalea for allegedly breaking her NDA with him, he better act quick and dip into his daughter’s funds to pay for a lawyer while he still can. Although, he can always dress up as a self-proclaimed “Monster Clown” again and scare a lawyer into representing him for free.
