Britney Spears Wants Her Dad Completely Removed From Her Conservatorship

Britney Spears has recently made the claim that she’s the happiest she’s ever been in her life, but as it turns out there’s just one element of her life that is preventing her from reaching top-shelf joy. And that’s her dad Jamie Spears staying on as her co-conservator. We’re learning that Britney doesn’t just want Jamie to have limited access to her conservatorship decisions. She might actually want him completely removed from her conservatorship altogether.

Britney remains in the middle of an ongoing battle over who controls the puppet strings of her 12-year conservatorship. Her father ran the show for years but had to step back a bit due to health issues (he continued to control her money). When it came time to discuss the future of her conservatorship, Jamie wanted to run things again, but with former co-conservator Andrew Wallet as his helper. Britney didn’t want Andrew involved at all. Back in August, we learned that Britney would be ok with her father being involved if he was made to also work alongside a corporate fiduciary, like a bank. Jamie didn’t want that. Well, Jamie better stock up on the good grits while his daughter is still signing his paychecks. TMZ says that Britney’s legal team just filed documents requesting that her sole conservator be the Bessemer Trust Company.

Britney’s legal team filed docs requesting Bessemer Trust Company become the sole conservator of her business affairs…as opposed to just co-conservator with her father, Jamie. In docs, obtained by TMZ, Britney says the move that set things in motion was an October 28 letter telling her that Tristar Sports and Entertainment Group resigned as Britney’s business manager without any prior notice.

Not long after Tristar Sports and Entertainment Group resigned, Jamie allegedly brought on a person by the name of Michael Kane of Miller Kaplan, a public accounting firm. That really pissed Britney off, because Jamie never gave her a chance to interview Michael, review the terms of his hiring, or consider any other applicants. She wasn’t even given notice that Jamie was going to hire someone new. That choice might end up coming back to bite Jamie in the ass now. Britney saw Jamie’s decision to hire Michael as having Jamie only considering what’s best for Jamie (or possibly, what’s best for Jamie’s wallet).

Britney also says the move brings serious concern because Jamie’s goal “is to introduce a new gatekeeper who admittedly has a major working relationship with [Jamie’s] legal team.” Britney claims it’s all part of Jamie’s attempts to “retain full functional control of her assets, books and records.” Britney says she’ll file a petition to remove Jamie as the co-conservator of the estate so that Bessemer can serve that role alone.

I can’t see a judge not agreeing with Britney’s request here. All Britney wants is to be looped in on decisions that affect her directly. My daughter is barely two, and even I run the choices I make past her (“Do you want to wear this red blouse, or will it be the Snoopy shirt with the spaghetti sauce stain again?“). But if that judge really does think Bessemer Trust Company needs someone close to Britney helping run her life, then my suggestion is that they bring on Guillermo Díaz. As you can see from the video for “I Wanna Go,” he’s only ever put Britney’s health, safety, and happiness first. Okay, he turned out to be a robot at the end of the video. But at least a robot has to get clearance from their human first before they go and start hiring their friends.
