Britney’s Father Blames Conservator Jodi Montgomery For Why She’s Not Happy

Britney Spears’ dad and co-conservator, Jamie Spears, is doing some damage control after she called him out in court for being a major cause of her sadness and pain.  For the first time, Britney said in her own words that she’s miserable and her life as a pop star is basically the song Lucky but much, much worse. Since then, celebrities and fans alike have been chanting “#FreeBritney!” so hard from the rooftops, I’m sure that the aliens think we’re talking to them and they’re checking their registry of abducted people for a Britney but can’t find one. Jamie doesn’t want you to think he’s a bad father, so he’s explained that he’s not to blame for Britney being sad. He hasn’t been involved with her conservatorship in two years, you see. So clearly her decades of misery are someone else’s fault!

Among Britney’s allegations of her mistreatment during the course of her conservatorship, she claimed she had an IUD in that she wasn’t allowed to take out, couldn’t get married or have a child, had been drugged and committed to facilities against her will, and worked endlessly to make those around her richer. Britney also said that her father loved to punish and control her. But Jamie has an explanation: “It wasn’t me!”

TMZ says that Jamie filed legal documents which basically wash his hands of all wrongdoing. He claimed that if anything was going wrong for Britney it was because of who came after him because he was replaced by Jodi Montgomery in 2019. Which he was, but he also still remained on himself after she took some control, so a bit of a mixed message. But Jamie thinks it’s a clear defense.

Jamie filed legal docs claiming he has not had ANY involvement in Britney’s personal conservatorship — meaning making personal decisions on behalf of Britney — for nearly 2 years.

Furthermore, he says he hasn’t even spoken to his daughter in a long time because “he has been cut off from communicating with her.”

Jamie lays any blame for the restrictive rules on the current personal conservator, Jodi Montgomery. He says when Britney’s lawyer filed docs to appoint Montgomery, he claimed at the time Britney did not have the mental capacity to make decisions about her medical treatment and therefore it was left to the conservator of her person — now Jodi Montgomery. Jamie says bluntly, the court never found she was unable to consent to medical treatment and the court never made such an order.

The upshot — Jamie claims it was Britney’s own lawyer, Sam Ingham, who has been seeking to take away his client’s right to make medical decisions on her behalf and vest those decisions solely in Montgomery’s hands.

According to the legal docs, “Ms. Montgomery has been fully in charge of Ms. Spears’ day-to-day personal care and medical treatment, and Ms. Montgomery has made all decisions related to those matters.”

Jamie also specifically points to how he was going to let Britney marry Jason Trawick back in 2011 even though it never panned out and they broke up in 2013. Jamie didn’t just shove his replacement Jodi under the bus and walk away, though. He asked for an investigation into Britney’s allegations, but asked that if they’re “shown to be false” the conservatorship can remain:

In another document, Jamie’s lawyer says, “Mr. Spears believes it is important for the integrity of the conservatorship proceedings and in the best interests of Ms. Spears for the Court to order an investigation into the issues and claims raised by [Britney] at the June 23, 2021 status hearing.”

Jamie’s lawyer goes on … “Either the allegations will be shown to be true, in which case corrective action must be taken, or they will be shown to be false, in which case the conservatorship can continue its course.”

The lawyer says, “It is not acceptable for Conservators or the Court to do nothing in response to Ms. Spears’ testimony.”

Well, I agree with that last sentence, something needs to be done. But I guess if it turns out Jodi is the one to blame for Britney’s recent plight the #FreeBritney stans might let Jamie keep all his fingers after they storm Britney’s mansion and round up her betrayers. Probably not, though!
