Meghan Markle Shuts Down The “Offensive” Claim That She Changed Her Name On Her Son’s Birth Certificate

Here I was thinking that birth certificate drama was so 2008, but over the weekend there was drama over the birth certificate of Prince Hot Ginge and Meghan Markle’s 1-year-old son Master Archie. The Sun reported that Meghan’s full name was originally on her son’s birth certificate, but that she and Prince Harry later took a Magic Eraser to her full name and did it on the shush. The Sun then tried to stir up the lukewarm feud between Meghan and Duchess Kate by saying that the birth certificate move might have been a dig at Kate and Prince William. But Meghan popped up to both spit at The Sun and side-eye the Palace over the birth certificate change. And before you throw a COVID-protecting Hazmat mask at Detective La Toya Jackson and tell her to get herself to England to investigate this royal mystery, a Palace source called the change an oops.

Master Archie was born on May 6, 2019, and his birth was registered on May 17. And originally, Archie’s parents were listed as:

His Royal Highness Henry Charles Albert David, Duke of Sussex

and

Rachel Meghan Her Royal Highness The Duchess Of Sussex

On June 5, 2019, a change was made to Archie’s birth certificate. “Prince” was added to Harry’s full name and “Rachel Meghan” was completely taken out of Meghan’s name and only her title was left:

His Royal Highness Prince Henry Charles Albert David, Duke of Sussex

and

Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex

Royal experts called this an !!UNPRECEDENTED MOVE!!, which isn’t surprising to read since Harry and Meghan are the King and Queen of !!UNPRECEDENTED MOVES!!. One royal expert thinks that Harry and Meghan really may have decided to use their kid’s birth certificate to throw a dig at Prince William and Duchess Kate since they were all reportedlyfeuding” around that time. Duchess Kate’s full name is on the birth certificates of her children, so some think that Harry and Meghan wanted to do something different than the Cambridges and took off Meghan’s full name.

Others think that it may have been a preview of Harry and Meghan’s exit from senior royal life. The Sun also mentions that Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, is listed as Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales on the birth certificates of her sons.

And as we all screamed for answers to the greatest mystery of our time, Meghan’s rep released a statement to Omid Scobie, the co-author of Finding Freedom, saying that the Palace “dictated” the change. Megan’s rep also channeled Natasha from America’s Next Top Model by basically saying, “Some people have wars in their countries,” about this non-story:

“The change of name on public documents in 2019 was dictated by The Palace, as confirmed by documents from senior Palace officials. This was not requested by Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex nor by The Duke of Sussex.

To see this UK tabloid and their carnival of so-called ‘experts’ chose to deceptively whip this into a calculated family ‘snub’ and suggest that she would oddly want to be nameless on her child’s birth certificate, or any other legal document, would be laughable were it not offensive.

There’s a lot going on in the world—let’s focus on that rather than creating clickbait.”

Sources at Buckingham Palace told The Telegraph that it was a “clerical error and nothing more than that.

In other Harry and Meghan vs. The British Tabloids, Harry settled with The Mail On Sunday and got “significant damages” and will receive an apology over the tabloid saying that he turned his back on the Royal Marines.

The Sun is one of the UK’s greatest literary journals of integrity so I’m sure they will not stand for Meghan branding them as a sleazy circus of clickbait. I’m sure that they’ll publish a follow-up to this story, saying that wasn’t the only change to Meghan’s name made on Archie’s birth certificate. A change was submitted to list Meghan’s name as “Her Royal Highness The Duchess Of Hating On Pantyhose And Destroying The Royal Family.” And yes, the person who dropped off that change at the register office was Duchess Kate with a glasses and mustache disguise on her face and a diabolical sparkle in her eye.
