Elon Musk Is Now The Richest Man In The World

The other day when I said 2020 was holding 2021’s beer, I should have said 2020 is holding 2021’s sheet of acid. Because, wow, we are into the looking glass now my friends. Today as we wait to see if Donald Trump will be removed from office or simply get away with inciting a coup with a pat on the back and a “better luck next time, buddy,” a dude that willingly let Azealia Banks into his house and thinks his baby is part alien, has just surpassed Jeff Bezos as the richest man in the world. IN. THE. WORLD. According to CNBC, after an incredible surge in Tesla’s stock price this morning, Elon Musk is now worth over $185 billion dollars. “Him?” you say. Yes, him.

CNBC reports that just a week ago, poor Elon started the year as a simple middling billionaire with barely two 1000 karat apartheid-era South African emeralds to rub together. But that all changed with today’s midday trading.

Elon Musk just became the richest person in the world, with a net worth of more than $185 billion.

Thursday’s increase in Tesla’s share price pushed Musk past Jeff Bezos, who had been the richest person since 2017 and is currently worth about $184 billion. Musk’s wealth surge over the past year marks the fastest rise to the top of the rich list in history — and is a dramatic financial turnaround for the famed entrepreneur who just 18 months ago was in the headlines for Tesla’s rapid cash burn and his personal leverage against the company’s stock.

Musk started 2020 worth about $27 billion, and was barely in the top 50 richest people.

As for Jeff, the newly dethroned King of Koins, CNBC says that “due to the potential for increased regulation from Washington,” Amazon’s stock price has “remained more subdued.” But before you rush to start a GoFundMe to save Lauren Sanchez‘s brother from having to sell any more of Jeff’s dick pics, therefore saving ourselves from having to see them, rest assured, Jeff is still very, very rich. Just not as rich as the SoundCloud rapper who once challenged Johnny Depp to a cage fight.

While the Bloomberg Billionaires Index had Musk within $3 billion of Bezos’ net worth on Wednesday, before Thursday’s trading, the Forbes Real Time Billionaires List still had Musk about $14 billion behind Bezos after the market close Wednesday. Forbes pegged Bezos’ net worth at $186 billion and Musk at $172 billion. Forbes, however, may not be including the value of Musk’s options, which he received as part of his pay package, to buy more than 33 million shares of Tesla.

Well, it sounds to me like Jeff needs to challenge Elon to a cage fight. Fair is fair. Screw these publications with their indexes, data sets, and whatnot. The battle for the title of Richest Man in the World should be decided by the people. In the Thunderdome. On Mars.

Please, I’m serious. Can we send them both to Mars?
