Britney Spears Officially Has A New Conservator

It’s official, Jamie Spears is no longer the one controlling Britney Spears‘ life. And in a move I find odd, since I have a healthy family dynamic and would probably expect the other living parent to then step in and take over, instead it is a woman named Jodi Montgomery–a financial typer person who specializes in messy rich families.

TMZ says that Britney’s dad is no longer on her case, at least legally-speaking. After filing to be removed as Britney’s conservator, Daddy Spears had his wish granted and now Britney’s finances, health and full existence are in the hands of Jodi–her “care manager” of the last year.

Jamie had formally requested to be temporarily removed because of health reasons. It was actually more likely because he had just been involved in a messy altercation with one of Britney’s sons, Sean Preston, and now he has a restraining order against him, keeping him away from his grandsons. Probably that had more to do with it, but hey! A narrative is a narrative.

Jodi’s appointment wasn’t opposed by anyone, so things didn’t get dramatic. But within the next week, things could maybe get dramatic, because the court appointed evaluator will be filing a report about Britney’s care and the medications she was given. This evaluation could potentially open the door for Kevin Federline or her mom Lynne Spears to challenge Daddy Spears from returning as conservator after the temporary change. Jodi is supposed to be in charge until January 31, 2020.

The Blast says that Kevin Federline is playing it cool, and his team is going to collect information on Jodi but “presumes she is qualified”.

The Blast also says that Jodi is taking on Britney’s life just as hers is sort of imploding. They’re reporting that she filed for divorce from her husband and business partner, Jack, right in the middle of all this.  According to some legal documents Jodi filed for divorce in June after 21 years of marriage.

So The Blast says that Jodi and Jack’s business together is called Pais Montgomery Fiduciary, which specializes in providing:

“Expert, reliable, and insightful case management and offers expertise in managing businesses, working with limited partnerships, resolving contentious family issues, maximizing and protecting the value of intellectual property rights, managing real property assets, and developing and executing plans to optimize trust finances.”

So really it’s a double-whammy: the person who is trained in dealing with messy rich-people familial situations is dealing with Britney’s messy rich-people family situation amid her own divorce! But well, as long as Jodi can resist the urge to break down doors and shake the Mountain Dew out of one of Britney’s kids, she’s already ahead of Daddy Spears.
