Jamie Spears Is Trying To Step Down As Britney’s Conservator

I guess Britney Spears‘ new brunette hair really was an omen of things to come. After her dad, Jamie Spears, allegedly got into a physical thing with her 13-year old child, Sean Preston, it led to a restraining order and Britney giving up most of her custody to Kevin Federline. Well it’s about to get messier, because now Jamie is trying to step down as Britney’s conservator and is trying to hand the reigns over to someone else–allegedly because he was worried Kevin was going to make a move to have him taken out of the conservatorship role anyway.

Brit Brit’s conservatorship, which she’s been under since 2008, was recently supposed to be investigated after a judge wanted to know what was going on. Well those investigators are going to have a lot of material to go through because it’s about to turn into a court room drama before the investigators get the chance to turn it into one themselves.

So originally sources were whispering to TMZ that Kevin, or even Britney’s mom Lynne Spears, may try to mess things up for Jamie. Sources said that because of the restraining order between Britney’s sons and their Jamie, Kevin may try asking a judge to remove him from the conservatorship all together–because ultimately the conservator is also responsible for the welfare of the children through Britney. And it’s not great if that person is also breaking down doors and physically shaking those same children. Or any child, really. A source said that it would be stupid for Kevin to try though because:

“Jamie certainly has his flaws, but everyone knows he’s done a good job and there’s no one else who can do it.”

Well, that source spoke too soon, because Jamie has filed papers to fully step down from the conservatorship. Which is an odd move since he was just a few weeks ago, filing to have it extended into a bunch of different states. Now, TMZ says that he wants out temporarily until January 20, 2020, at least.

According to the documents, Daddy Spears is asking “to temporarily relinquish the powers of conservatorship … due to personal health reasons.” If you remember, when Britney herself was having her full meltdown Phase One, they said she was taking a break for his health issues as well. So this excuse has been used in the past.

Jamie is suggesting that Jodi Montgomery take over. Jamie describes Jodi as Britney’s “care manager” of the last year. He wants Jodi to have the same powers he does, which include:

  1. The power to restrict or limit visitors by any means.
  2. The power to retain caretakers and security for Britney on a 24-hour basis.
  3. The power to prosecute civil harassment restraining orders.
  4. The power to communicate with expert medical personnel regarding Britney and to have full access to her medical and psychiatric records.

Jodi has already accepted the job graciously, of course. Daddy Spears wants a hearing expedited to Monday and said that Britney is “able but unwilling” to attend. Which is a great sign, that she wants to not help her dad at all during this mess. But he says she doesn’t want to contest the proceedings and doesn’t object to Jodi.

I hope this is a way for Jamie to apologize to his daughter for how he flipped out on her sons and that he’s giving her space… I hope. I’m not sure it is, but I just would like for once in Britney’s life for people not to be after her money this hard. Britney Spears did not found the first settlement on Mars so that she could go through THIS!
