Sources Claim The Weeknd’s “The Idol” Has Veered Into “Torture Porn” Territory Under Sam Levinson’s Direction

March 1, 2023 / Posted by:

Hopper Penn owes Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye a great big thanks because the “nepo baby” debate just got a lot more sinister thanks to accusations that already suspect Euphoria creator Sam Levinson, son of director Barry Levinson, has driven his already wobbly starring vehicle, The Idol, straight off a cliff and into a sea of sexually exploitative “torture porn.” And apparently, The Weeknd and Johnny Depp‘s kid, Lily Rose Depp, are all in for the ride. But according to Rolling Stone, much of the show’s crew are disgusted with the direction the show has taken since The Idol’s original director, Amy Seimetz, “suddenly exited with roughly 80 percent of the six-episode series finished” last April. Sources claim that under Sam’s direction, “It went from satire to the thing it was satirizing.

This is the 26-year-old’s second time winning the award, which makes her the youngest evah two-time acting winner. But wait, there’s more! It’s also the first time a Black woman has won twice in that category. Barbie Ferreira Announced That She’s Leaving “Euphoria”

August 25, 2022 / Posted by:

It seems like every time we hear about HBO’s acclaimed saga of dongs, drugs, and dark rooms, Euphoria, it’s due to the excess of on-set drama that creator, Sam Levinson, allegedly perpetuates. A few months ago it was rumored that model/actress Barbie Ferreira, who plays Kat Hernandez on the show, wasn’t seeing sparkly lined eye-to-eye with Sam and his ideas for the direction of her character. Despite Kat having a dynamic storyline in season 1, her scenes were largely cut in season 2. And now, Barbie announced that she’s done with Euphoria for good.

The Weeknd Showed A New Teaser Trailer For His HBO Drama “The Idol” At His Las Vegas Concert

August 22, 2022 / Posted by:

Anyone who’s been keeping tabs on the progress that Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye has been making with his and Sam Levinson’s HBO drama The Idol has had to keep their head on a swivel as the direction of the show and the members of the cast have been as back and forth as The Weeknd and Bella Hadid’s messy past relationship status. Last month, a teaser featuring cocaine, sex, and darkly lit rooms was released, which was to be expected since Sam, the controversial director of Euphoria, and The Weeknd, who loves coke, are at the helm. No premiere date for the show–which is about “a self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult, who develops a complicated relationship with an up-and-coming pop idol–has been given, but we may be getting closer since this weekend The Weeknd played a new teaser for The Idol at his Saturday night concert in Las Vegas, according to Variety.

The Weeknd’s HBO Series “The Idol” Is Getting An Overhaul With Cast And Crew Changes

April 28, 2022 / Posted by:

In between his busy schedule of recording music and being a general eccentric, The Weeknd is currently working on a TV series for HBO called The Idol, a drama about a female pop star, played by Lily-Rose Depp, who gets involved with a Los Angeles club owner-turned-secret cult member, played by The Weeknd. The show is co-created by The Weeknd’s long-term producing partner Reza Fahim and Euphoria creator Sam Levinson. So yes, it sounds like the perfect recipe for an HBO-style visual mess. Except it turns out that it’s already pretty messy behind the scenes. According to several sources, people are dropping from the project left and right, and some of the reason might be because The Weeknd thought the show was deviating from the real star of the show (aka The Weeknd).

Sydney Sweeney Says Her Comments About Her Nude Scenes On “Euphoria” Got Twisted

March 15, 2022 / Posted by:

There has been a lot of alleged behind-the-scenes drama with HBO’s high school series Euphoria. There’s been allegations of a hellish” and “toxic work environment, excessively long shoot days, clashes between cast and creator Sam Levinson, and of course, the many conversations around the show’s frequent nudity. Several actresses from the show have spoken about Sam Levinson’s on-set requests for nude scenes, with some, like Minka Kelly and Chloe Cherry, expressing that they felt blindsided by the choice to have their characters go topless or fully nude. Sydney Sweeney has also spoken about Sam’s requests for an absence of clothing, but I shouldn’t count on her to provide a quote for that tell-all. Sydney would like to clarify the comments she made, and she’s expressed that her original thoughts were taken out of context.
