Depending Who You Ask, “The Idol” May Or May Not Be Getting A Second Season
Surprisingly, it doesn’t look like season two of The Idol is assured, so that may be bad news for Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye and Sam Levinson since they won’t have a show to enact all their torture porn fantasies. Actually, Sam still has Euphoria, so never mind! Insiders have whispered to Page Six that the show will end after season one thanks to Abel’s alleged “egomaniacal” behavior on set and the dismal reviews which have called the show “comically bad.” But another source says Abel is very nice–like a real Canadian–and that the show’s fate hasn’t yet been decided. And HBO has backed up that source’s claim.
Open Post: Hosted By The Weeknd Getting Dragged For A Scene In “The Idol”
Correction: He’s getting dragged for EVERY scene in The Idol.
Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye and Euphoria‘s Sam Levinson‘s alleged “torture porn fantasy” has been streaming on Max for two weeks now, and people are not really reacting the way I think they wanted. The show stars Lily-Rose Depp as a troubled pop star who, after the death of her mother, falls in with a sleazy “guru” played by Abel. After scrapping the initial version of the show, which allegedly leaned too far into the “female perspective,” and filming expensive reshoots, the show premiered to mostly negative reviews. On Rotten Tomatoes, it’s currently sitting at a whopping 26%. And after the second episode aired this past weekend, people, who are still watching it, say they have “lost respect” for Abel entirely.
Lily-Rose Depp Says She’d “Steer Clear” Of The Weeknd While On “The Idol” Set
Yesterday, the first episode of HBO’s highly anticipated dreaded show The Idol starring Abel Tesfaye, aka The Weeknd, and nepo baby, Lily-Rose Depp, finally dropped and surprise surprise! It’s just as depraved and boring as we thought it’d be. But, in an entire hour dedicated solely to putting a camera up to Lily-Rose ‘s nether regions, somehow the creepiest part of the show is Abel’s portrayal of his character Tedros, a sleazy nightclub owner that talks like he’s thinking of ways to cut women into pieces and eat them. And in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lily-Rose said she’d “steer clear” of The Weeknd on set when he was in character.
Open Post: Hosted By The Weeknd’s New Song With Madonna And Playboi Carti For “The Idol”
While HBO Max keeps trying to get people to accept their rebrand of “Max” (never gonna happen), Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd, and Sam Levinson are crossing their fingers and hoping for the same with their controversial new show The Idol (also probably not gonna happen). The series hasn’t even been released yet but already has a 25 percent critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes after being branded as a torture porn nightmare. So The Weeknd figured he’d sweeten the deal by getting the Queen of Pop, Madonna, to feature in one of the show’s tracks, “Popular,” and dropped the song only days before the June 4th release of The Idol.
“Euphoria” Creator, Sam Levinson, Is Thinking About Making A Movie For Kids
Now that Sam Levinson has finished with his latest problematic show, The Idol, starring and developed by Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye, he’s looking to his next step. And it might not be TV, as he says that with his son nearing adolescence, he’s looking to create something that he can soon experience–like a version of The Goonies. Which, if you’ve never seen, is about a group of poor kids who try to save their homes from becoming a country club in foreclosure and go on a wild adventure that includes the mob and potentially lethal traps. So in Sam Levinson’s version, the kids will turn to selling drugs to save their houses and will get killed in a shootout with the mob over a deal gone wrong.
“The Idol” Premiered At Cannes And Lived Up To The “Torture Porn” Claims
“Max’s” The Idol premiered at Cannes, probably because the show has got tons of bad press for all of its sexual gratuity and violence. And the verdict is in, and it seems that it really is “torture porn,” but it seems like a lot of people at Cannes also really like that about it? Because it got a 5-minute standing ovation (although, a Cannes ovation that’s under 5 minutes really means nothing) and new showrunner, Euphoria‘s Sam Levinson, cried making a speech about how proud he was of a show with a plot point where a picture of Lily-Rose Depp‘s character with jizz on her face gets leaked online, and she gets called a “human cumsock.” I don’t know; I’m not sure this is going to get Lily-Rose a bunch of awards like Zendaya got for Euphoria. Well, unless the Razzies decide to give out TV awards.
