“Game of Thrones” Cast Members Addressed Fan Backlash Over The Final Season
Game of Thrones is over. That is, it’s over until the upcoming prequel series renders the offices of non-watchers completely annoying on Monday mornings once again. But the series ending doesn’t mean that the subset of GoT fans who despised the final season so much that they created a damn petition to have it redone have ceased frothing at the collective mouth. Some of the cast appeared at the GoT panel at fanperson mecca San Diego Comic-Con and addressed the backlash.

Showrunners run, that’s what they’re supposed to do. And David Benioff and Dan Weiss of Game Of Thrones infamy are doing just that; running away as fast as they can. D&D were scheduled to appear on a panel at Comic-Con tomorrow, but HBO just released the final lineup and their names are missing. These two gingerbread men are not trying to get caught out here with their smallclothes down around their ankles in front of a mob of angry nerds. Not today, R’hllor!

The 71st Primetime Emmy nominations were announced today, and a celebratory screech rang out from the fire-filled mouths of all the dragons of the…uh…the Shire? The place where Link from The Legend of Zelda lives? Okay, so I’ve never watched a single episode of Game of Thrones. But Game of Thrones now holds multiple Emmy nomination records. “HA! Take that, you angry nerds!” thought the creators of Game of Thrones.
“Game Of Thrones” Fans Started A Petition To The Showrunners Fired From “Star Wars”
Game of Thrones is over, so those of you who didn’t watch it can stop practicing your fake smiles and nods to use when your co-workers, still want to discuss Wormfinger and Three-Eyed Sansas and Jon Snow’s nipples to a nauseating degree. The subset of GoT fans that you could probably describe as “a little too involved”, however, are still frothing at the mouth over what they feel was a lackluster final season. Their petition to re-create season eight without the hated showrunners didn’t accomplish anything (despite 15 million signatures). So angry fans have begun a NEW petition to get David Benioff and D.B. Weiss thrown off of the planned Star Wars X so they don’t ruin the franchise. Did they not see Solo? That pretty much did it.

The showrunners of the recently concluded Game Of Thrones are personas non gratas with a lot of people right now. And we can add robbing us of a Fifty Shades Of Grey trilogy with an actress who might have had marginally better chemistry with her co-star to the list of grievances against them. I know it’s a stretch, adding Jason Momoa as Christian Grey would have been the only way Fifty Shades could have been improved. In a recent interview for The Hollywood Reporter, Emilia Clarke, who, whether she likes it or not (and I’m pretty sure she likes it not), will be forever associated with her GOT character Daenerys Targaryen, revealed that flashing her titties in GOT is the reason she turned down the starring role in Fifty Shades.

The Game Of Thrones series finale was a huge success… if all you care about is numbers. If you’re worried about fan-reaction or execution, well then, you may want to critique the success/failure ratio a bit differently. But back to the numbers. HBO scored the highest multi-platform tune-in with the show across its HBO network and its streaming services, HBO Go and HBO Now. In total, the series finale brought in a whopping 19.3 million nerds viewers for the final show.
