More “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” Actors Talk About Joss Whedon’s Alleged Toxic Behavior

A new book about the making of Buffy The Vampire Slayer by Evan Ross Katz called Into Every Generation a Slayer Is Born: How “Buffy” Staked Our Hearts is out. And in the book, various stars from the series talk about the allegations that Joss Whedon was Joss The Nerves Slayer on set by treating some actors like shit. We’ve already heard stories of Joss’ alleged toxic behavior from Charisma Carpenter and Michelle Trachtenberg, and plenty of other stars have shown their support to the actors who chose to speak out. Now, even more people are dunking on Joss in the new book, like Buffy actors Emma Caulfield and Danny Strong. So let’s read more about how Joss is a shitty person, shall we?
Ray Fisher And Charisma Carpenter Respond To Joss Whedon’s Disastrous “New York Magazine” Interview

Joss Whedon‘s New York Magazine interview is landing harder than an America’s Next Top Model contestant on one of Tyra Banks’ obstacle courses. In it, the writer/director absolutely shits the bed as he denied claims of racism by saying that he minimized Ray Fisher’s role in Justice League due to plot reasons and Ray’s bad acting. And Joss says he never threatened Gal Gadot, it was just a misunderstanding since English isn’t her first language. Charisma Carpenter, who worked with Joss on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, previously accused him of on-set bullying and firing her for getting pregnant. Defenders of Joss tell NY Mag that they believe Charisma was never harassed by Joss and that Ray’s claims “corrupted” her mind and made her remember things wrong. And now Ray and Charisma are responding to Joss’ bullshit.
Variety Did An Exposé On Joss Whedon’s Alleged Shitty Behavior On The “Buffy” And “Angel” Sets

Earlier this month Charisma Carpenter came forward with allegations of toxic bullying and general dickery against Buffy and Angel showrunner Joss Whedon. Since then, several actors and former co-workers have also spoken out. And now Variety has published an exposé on Joss. The magazine spoke with 11 anonymous people who either worked on Buffy and Angel or were “closely familiar with the productions during their runs.” They also reached out to 40 others, including Sarah Michelle Gellar, Michelle Trachtenberg, Amber Benson, Eliza Dushku, David Boreanaz, and Alyson Hannigan, but they declined to comment for the story.
The thesis is: Joss Whedon was a cruel asshole who was both “feared and idolized” by the actors on the show. He ran an inappropriate, chaotic set, played favorites like a high school mean girl, had affairs with women under him (somewhere ex-wife Kai Cole is framing this story), and knew how to turn on the charm, or “manage up”, for the network higher-ups. Variety says it in their opening line: “it turns out the real-life big bad” on Buffy was Joss himself.
“Buffy” Star Nicholas Brendon Won’t Comment On Joss Whedon Allegations Until He Gets Surgery For His Paralyzed Anus And Penis

I’ll take “Perfect Headlines” for $2000, Alex…
Since Charisma Carpenter came forward with those Joss Whedon accusations last week, many of her Buffy and Angel co-stars have spoken out against the showrunner’s alleged on-set bullying and “not appropriate behavior.” But not the actors who played Buffy’s besties, Alyson Hannigan (Willow) and Nicholas Brendon (Xander). No word on why Alyson is remaining mum (a witch’s curse?), but there’s an effed explanation for why Nicholas isn’t issuing an official statement. He slipped and fell, paralyzing his penis and anus. I mean, as far as excuses go, it’s certainly original! Continue reading
More Former “Buffy” Cast Members Speak Out Against Joss Whedon’s Alleged On-Set Bullying (As Others Stay Tight-Lipped)

“Tight-lipped” is probably how Joss Whedon wished everyone who spent any time on the Buffy The Vampire Slayer set chose to operate their lips. Because many people have been coming forward with their own stories about him, after getting inspired by Charisma Carpenter’s brave choice to confirm what Ray Fisher, Gal Gadot, and Joss’s own ex-wife have been telling us for years. Which is that the only thing more splintery, damaging, and hard to handle than Joss Whedon’s out of control ego, was the wooden vampire stakes from the prop department. More have come to Charisma’s defense. But there are still some who have yet to add their thoughts.
Michelle Trachtenberg Says That Joss Whedon Wasn’t “Allowed In A Room Alone” With Her While Working On “Buffy”

Earlier this week, Charisma Carpenter pulled a Cordelia Chase and spoke out the alleged absuive ways of Buffy The Vampire Slayer creator, Joss Whedon. Charisma co-signed Ray Fisher‘s account of Joss and accused him of being one of the most toxic assholes she’s ever worked with. She claimed Joss went out of his way to punish her for getting pregnant while she was working on Angel, which cost Charisma her job (and ruined the plot). And now, Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Buffy’s younger sister Dawn Summers at 15 years of age, has said that Joss was “not allowed” to be “alone” in a room with her. I wish it was something like, “it’s because Joss cusses a lot and he shouldn’t swear in front of a teen,” but like… it’s probably not…
