Open Post: Hosted By Jennifer Lopez At The Met Gala Sans Ben Affleck

Last night hundreds of fashionistas (and a handful of fashion-NO-stas) bum-rushed the annual Met Gala in New York City to pay tribute to late couture curmudgeon Karl Lagerfeld, who was certain to be judging with mean giggles and side-eyes. But one person who knew she couldn’t let herself or Karl down was Jennifer Lopez. JLo arrived draped in head-to-toe Ralph Lauren, peering into the cameras with her patented “You poor people stay away from me” gaze. And in an attempt to keep her evening free from sad boy energy, she left her husband Ben Affleck at home. But I’m sure he was more than happy to skip this one.

I wish JLo would have played On The Floor as she stomped all over the ivory carpet since the way she sauntered in front of the paparazzi was definitely her non-verbally saying, “Bow down, you peasants!” And rightfully so, since she looked like a long-lost character from the original Dynasty ready to slap bitches in the face with her Smize of Doom.

Nobody does the whole “Worship my beauty” thing better than JLo, and on a night like the Met Gala, the intention is for all eyes to be on you in a very good way. With this knowledge in mind, Entertainment Tonight reports J. Lo was not about to half-step while tipping in her heels all the way up the Met steps. She ensured her dress underwent meticulous care so that nobody could say she didn’t come to slay that evening.

The triple threat set foot on the iconic steps outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday…as a guest of the annual star-studded gala. In accordance with the year’s theme — “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” — [J. Lo] sported a custom Ralph Lauren silk velvet halter gown with a draped silk satin skirt.

The gown, which was entirely made by hand, was completed with artisanal details including a floral collar with petals heated and molded by hand to resemble the natural shape of a flower, and black silk evening gloves.

Her look also featured elegant makeup, and spray tanning by Isabel Alysa.

That look on JLo’s face is called “happiness” since she didn’t have to share the fabulous spotlight with Ben, who had a valid reason for not being there. The Daily Mail reports Ben was busy with other work commitments, so he was unable to make it. But honestly, that’s probably a bunch of lies. Because after the embarrassment she suffered with his I wanna go home!” face at the Grammys earlier this year JLo probably told him, “You won’t be embarrassing me at the Met Gala, mutha fucka.” and subsequently gave him a pass for the evening.

DailyMail.com has learned exclusively that Ben did not attend the Met Gala with his new wife because he had ‘work commitments he could not get out of’ in Los Angeles.

Jennifer’s plus one at the Casamigos Met Gala after party was her 51-year-old sister Lynda Lopez.

Lynda posted a photo with her famous Jenny From The Block sibling as they hit the soiree. ‘#Aboutlastnight Stayed up late wayyyy too many nights this week… #mamasnightout ❤️,’ she added in her caption.

I think this is going to be the beginning of J. Lo leaving Ben at home for everything from now on. But she better not get too used to the freedom. Because I can see Ben getting a little bored and sending JLo a bunch of “Wyd??” “When you comin’ home??” texts just to annoy her. But he better be careful because nobody wants to deal with JLo when she’s angry.
