Christine Taylor Reveals What Led To Getting Back Together With Ben Stiller After Their Separation

Back in 2017, Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor announced their marriage was done after 17 years. But a couple of years later, it looked like Movie Marcia Brady, and Zoolander were back together. Ben and Christine are a married couple again . Christine was a guest on The Drew Barrymore Show yesterday and talked about what brought them back together. While quarantine taught some couples that they can’t stand each other, it did the opposite for Ben and Christine. “There were no other distractions,” she explained. Well, no distractions, except for that one time when Nepo Baby Ben defended nepo babies on Twitter before that was even a thing.

In a place like Hollywood, you have a better shot at winning an Academy Award than maintaining a long-term marriage. Hell, you even have a better chance of getting slapped by Will Smith at the Academy Awards, but after rekindling their romance, maybe Christine and Ben could beat the odds. According to E! News, she explained to Drew why they separated to begin with:

“We got married very quickly after meeting each other,” she said on The Drew Barrymore Show March 7, taking fans back to the beginning of the couple’s journey. “We knew each other six months, got engaged, married within the year and had Ella that next year.”

The duo—who share the 20-year-old as well as son Quinlin, 17—always put family first. But in the world of show biz, Christine noted how easy it is to fall into separate paths.

“I think Ben and I both started to grow in different directions,” the Hey Dude actress continued. “And when we made the decision to separate, it was not something we wanted to talk publicly about or took lightly.”

The verdict: Find out what was best for them at “this chapter in our lives.”

“That’s going back three or four years,” the Brady Bunch Movie alum said. “And during that time apart, we got to know who we are.”

This all changed for the couple when the pandemic hit, labeling the situation a “really special time” and saying that it came about “organically.” When describing the circumstances, she noted, “I feel like when you’ve lived a lifetime with someone like we have—and we learned as we were going along—there’s a freedom in that,” Christine continued. “There is a freedom in the comfort of this relationship and the commitment.”

Surprisingly, Christine didn’t stop for a second to say to Drew, “Do my nose hairs need cutting? I’m asking because your eyeballs are all up in my nostrils!

In a 2022 interview with Esquire, Ben talked about getting back together with Christine, saying,  “I think we have a respect for the ways that we’re similar and the ways we’re different. And I think accepting that, you can really appreciate someone more because you’re not trying to get them to change for you. Once you accept that, you save a lot of energy. ‘This is something that works for me; this is something that doesn’t work for me.'”  Why do I have a feeling that Machine Gun Kelly says the EXACT same thing during his daily Zoom therapy sessions with Megan Fox? And by that, I mean he just grunts before covertly checking his Instagram to see if any prospective side pieces have slid into his DMs.
