Lizzo Shared A Video From The Grammys That Proves Adele Did Not Walk Out On Harry Styles During His AOTY Acceptance Speech

Ben Affleck wasn’t the only attendee at Sunday’s Grammy Awards ceremony to fall victim to the all-seeing eye of Big Camera. Following Harry Styles’ win for the night’s biggest prize, Album of the Year, Adele was seen getting up from her seat during his acceptance speech, leading many viewers to believe that the president of the UK chapter of the Beyhive had walked out in protest, presumably because Beyonce didn’t win AOTY for Renaissance. However, unlike Ben, who really did appear to be passing a kidney stone roughly the same size as the rocks J Lo’s got all evening, the shot of Adele “walking out” was misleading. And Adele’s seatmate Lizzo has the video to prove it. Which, of course! Adele and Harry are both British. If Adele hasn’t walked out on James Cordon by now, she’s certainly not going to show Harry her ass.

Adele was probably just following some archaic protocol we Americans could never hope to understand and was readying herself to offer Harry a proper curtsy as the newly anointed King of Pop. According to The Daily Mail:

Adele once famously hit out at the Grammys decision to award her Album Of The Year for 25 instead of Beyonce’s Lemonade in 2017.

And she appeared to pull a similar tactic during Sunday night’s ceremony when Harry scooped the top honour rather than Queen B’s Renaissance.

Taking to Twitter during the ceremony, shocked viewers pointed out that Adele was seen standing up and walking past Lizzo as Harry took to the podium to make his speech.

Harry, who was heckled by Beyonce’s fans when he scooped the gong, courted controversy with his speech after claiming ‘people like me’ don’t win Grammys – with fans pointing out that as a white cisgender male, the opposite is in fact true.

However, viewers were also distracted by the camera panning to Adele in the audience when she left her seat, with many questioning if she had walked out of the venue.

Of course, they panned to Adele. Big Camera is shady as hell, we all know that! Pass gas or god forbid or a kidney stone at the wrong time, and they are gonna catch it. Here’s the blink-and-you-’ll-miss-it shot of Adele standing up that got a few members of Beyhive sharpening their stylets.

And here’s Adele saying to Lizzo what Ben was thinking the whole night— “What are you filming me for?!” Oh, only to save your ass, Adele! I hear those Harries will mildly curse you out under their breath for daring to cross their King.

Big Camera also caught the moment Harry’s name was announced, and that footage leaves little room for doubt that Harry actually did win AOTY over ABBA. In other words, a travesty did occur, but it’s not the one we’re talking about here.

Herein lies a Tale of Two Seconds.

No offense to Harry; I’m sure he’s a nice lad and all. But never has such a mild pop star been at the center of so many mild scandals that mildly peter out into thin air. First, he had us rewinding tape at the Venice Film Festival looking for errant spittle on Chris Pine’s crotchal area that wasn’t there. And now this. It makes me long for the days when America was a real country real American pop stars embroiled in real American scandals that had real American consequences. But sadly, these days, we’ve resorted to importing our pop stars from abroad, and they arrive on our shores with their own bizarre customs and ways. No wonder Ben looked so miserable. He too remembers when we were Kings and Queens (of pop).
