Mickey Rourke Called Tom Cruise “Irrelevant” On “Piers Morgan Uncensored”

New Suppressive Person just dropped! Piers Morgan tried to remake Battlefield Earth in his studio by inviting Mickey Rourke on his show, Piers Morgan Uncensored, where he glibly goaded him into talking shit about Tom Cruise. Mickey, who appears to be coming for Bruce Willis’ retracted bulk Razzie nomination with 10 dubious-looking IMDB credits in either pre or post-production slated for 2023, told Piers that he thinks Tom is “irrelevant in [his] world.” Considering that Tom’s practically a God in his, this is not the War of the Worlds remake we need right now. But I suppose it’s one we deserve for throwing all our little dollars at Top Gun: Maverik this summer. Mickey also accused Tom of “doing the same f’ing part for 35 years,” and said he wants to be an actor more like “Monty Cliff, or Brando back in the day,” which is encouraging. We might be able to avoid a full-scale intergalactic conflict by gently encouraging Mickey to look in a mirror and telling him what year it is.
It takes a lot of nerve to be a snob about craft when your most recent credit is a horror movie opposite Lindsay Lohan that’s been languishing in pre-production for 2 years. Mickey’s an absolute legend for this. Entertainment Weekly reports:
Mickey Rourke is heading into the danger zone.
The Oscar-nominated Wrestler actor is no fan of global superstar Tom Cruise, as he slammed the Top Gun: Maverick star’s approach to the craft.
“That doesn’t mean s— to me. The guy’s been doing the same f’ing part for 35 years, you know?” Rourke said on Monday’s episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored of Cruise’s Top Gun sequel crossing the $1 billion mark at the global box office. “I got no respect for that. Really, brother. I don’t care about money and power. I care about when I watch Al Pacino working, Chris Walken, [Robert] De Niro’s early work, Richard Harris’ work, Ray Winstone’s work — that’s the kind of actor I want to be, like Monty Clift, [Marlon] Brando back in the day. A lot of guys that just tried to stretch as actors.”
When Morgan pressed Rourke on if he thinks Cruise is a good actor or not, Rourke responded: “I think he’s irrelevant, in my world.”
Says the man who spent his morning talking to Piers Morgan. Sadly, I fear Tom could say the same thing about Mickey. This is a shame because Mickey would have killed as a Mission: Impossible baddie. Never forget Mickey reportedly went full method as Whiplash in Iron Man 2. Now he’ll never get the chance to push Tom Cruise off a speeding train with impunity in the name of cinema. Here’s the clip.

Ah, man! I just thought of something else. With Miles Teller solidly on #TeamTomsTaintTastesGreat, this also means Mickey’s not going to be asked to play a Bond villain in Dude, Where’s My Aston Martin?
