Jussie Smollett Has Been Found Guilty On 5 Out Of 6 Counts For Staging An Attack

It’s been the season of high-profile trials thanks to the trials of Elizabeth Holmes, Josh Duggar, Ghislaine Maxwell, and Jussie Smollett. While there’s a possibility that Ghislaine won’t even get a slap on the wrist, Josh Duggar was found guilty today of being a disgusting pedophile. The verdict in Jussie Smollett’s case just came in today too. And well, the jury didn’t buy what he was selling (that he was the victim of a hate crime), because they found him guilty of five out of six disorderly conduct charges for lying to police. Jussie is facing up to 3 years in the clink and a $25,000 fine. This is probably now the Mona Lisa of PR Stunts Gone Wrong.

CNN says that the 5 counts Jussie was found guilty of were for the lies he told to police during an interview with them on January 29, 2019. The 6th count, the one he was found not guilty of, was for an interview he did with Chicago police on February 14, 2019. In that interview, Jussie claimed he was the victim of aggravated burglary. These are the 5 counts he was found guilty of:

  • Count 1 – Guilty: Making a false police report he was the victim of a hate crime to Officer Muhammad Baig.
  • Count 2 – Guilty: Making a false police report he was the victim of a battery to Baig.
  • Count 3 – Guilty: Making a false police report he was the victim of a hate crime to Det. Kimberly Murray.
  • Count 4 – Guilty: Making a false police report he was the victim of a battery to Det. Kimberly Murray.
  • Count 5 – Guilty: Making a false police report he was the victim of a battery to Det. Kimberly Murray.

This Jussie Smollett messiness goes all the way back to the simpler pre-COVID times of January 2019 when he claimed that he was jumped in a hate crime by two white men who put a rope around his neck, poured bleach on him, and screamed, “This is MAGA country!” But that tale quickly began to fall apart and police discovered that Jussie paid two bodybuilding brothers, Abimbola “Abel and Olabinjo “Ola” Osundairo, $3,500. Police believed Jussie paid them to fake attack him. Police also had evidence that the Osundairo brothers bought the rope, ski masks, and red MAGA-like hats used in the fraudulent attack. Authorities said that Jussie came up with the attack because he wanted to boost his profile because he was not happy with what he was making on Empire.

Jussie was charged with disorderly conduct for staging the attack and filing a false police report. Those charges were dropped in March 2019. The State’s Attorney, Kim Foxx, said at the time that if Jussie was convicted, he’d just get community service and since he already did two days of community service, there was no point in pursuing the charges. Jussie also agreed to forfeit the $10,000 bond he paid. But after a months-long investigation into the case by a special prosecutor, the prosecutor found “abuses” and “failures” in the handling of the case. In February 2020, a Cook County Grand Jury re-indicted Jussie on 6 counts. Jussie tried to get the case dismissed, but that didn’t work, and it went to trial.

During the trial, Jussie continued to claim that he never lied to the police and didn’t fake his hate crime. Jussie testified that he hired the Osundairo brothers to train him after Lee Daniels called him fat. Jussie also testified that he and Abel did drugs and jacked off together in a bathhouse. Both brothers testified that Jussie did pay them to pretend to jump him in an anti-gay racist attack. Jussie didn’t show much of a reaction when his fate was announced today. via CNN:

Jussie Smollett appeared rigid after the verdict was read in court Thursday evening.

He did not move and was seen gazing straight ahead. His fingers were interlaced in his hands on the table straight in front of him.

Smollett didn’t look at his family, judge, or anyone except for straight ahead in the direction of the jury.

Not only could Jussie spend 3 years behind bars, but he’s also still on the hook for the $130,000 that the City of Chicago wants him to pay for all the time and resources that were wasted on investigating what turned out to be a huge hoax.

Meanwhile, CNN’s Don Lemon probably stopped consoling his “brotherChris Cuomo, who got shit-canned from CNN over the weekend, to deal with his own shit. Because during the trial, Jussie testified that he first found out that the police didn’t believe he was attacked in a hate crime by Don Lemon who tipped him off in a text. That was why Jussie didn’t immediately hand over his phone to the cops.

The moral of this story, besides “don’t lie to police about being attacked,” is that when you meet a hot piece and the two of you have some fapping fun in a bathhouse, don’t mess up future bust-a-nut sessions by asking the hot piece to fake attack you in a staged hate crime for attention. Although, Jussie did get a lot of attention out of this. So mission sort of accomplished?
