Sinead O’Connor Is Retiring From Recording And Touring
Sinead O’Connor is officially OVER. IT. After a week of telling more alleged horror stories about Prince, Sinead downed a few whiskey drinks and took to Twitter to announce that she is retiring from the music biz, including touring and recording. Her upcoming album No Veteran Dies Alone will be her final release. Sinead says at age 54 she’s “gotten older” and she’s tired of playing clubs with no toilets and pissin’ in alleys (fair). She assures fans it’s not sad news; it’s actually “staggeringly beautiful news,” and “a warrior knows when he or she should retreat.” Deep.
Sinead adds that all her 2020 shows that were Corona-postponed and rescheduled for 2022 will also be canceled. So that idyllic post-COVID world we all imagined… where we can go to an indoor Sinead O’Connor concert with all our friends and family? That dream is dead.
Here are the tweets:
This is to announce my retirement from touring and from working in the record business. I've gotten older and I'm tired. So it's time for me to hang up my nipple tassels, having truly given my all. NVDA in 2022 will be my last release. And there'll be no more touring or promo.

Yeah, but no more pissin' in alleys, playing in clubs that have no toilets #TooFugginOld4Dat

The next day The Difficult Brown Warrior Queen tweeted an apology for “any upset” her retirement announcement caused to agents/promoters/managers. She says she’d had some whiskey and didn’t wanna wait for permission from “the men” who do her business. LOL:
Apologies if any upset caused to booking agents or promoters or managers due to my tweeting about my retirement. I guess the book made me realise I'm my own boss. I didn't wanna wait for permission from the men, as to when I could announce it. Also, I'd had a few whiskeys : )

Then, in a wild twist, Sinead suggested that in her retirement, perhaps she could be a judge on Ireland’s version of The Voice?:

Although I’d pay good money (well, a few bucks at least) to see Sinead as a reality show judge, The Voice of Ireland was actually canceled five years ago. So she’s a little late to the game.
Sinead converted to Islam in 2018 and changed her name to Shuhada Sadaqat. At the time she said she’d still perform as “Sinead,” and she has both names on her Twitter. The singer has also struggled with mental health over the years. So hopefully her decision to leave the music industry will help her stress levels. Because, honestly? There’s no better feeling than quitting/retiring from something. Just ask Cher or Chrissy Tiegen. Addicted to that “I’m outta here!” life!
