Jamie Spears’ Lawyers Have Accused Lynne Spears Of Meddling In Britney Spears’ Financial Business

We all know that when it comes to her conservatorship, Britney Spears would really, really, REALLY like it if her father, Jamie Spears, left her alone and stayed out of her business. As it turns out, Jamie Spears also likely has a Spears in his life that he wishes would back off and mind their own business when it comes to Britney’s conservatorship, and that’s his ex-wife Lynne Spears, who he claims has been sticking her nose in Britney’s coins and doing some unsolicited accounting.

Jamie recently filed legal documents asking a court to overrule a recent filing made by Britney’s mom, in which she boldly dared to ask where the money is. Lynne is on Team Britney, and nearly two weeks ago Lynne filed papers claiming that Holland & Knight, aka the law firm that represents Jamie, didn’t act in “good faith” of Britney. According to the documents, Holland & Knight asked Britney to fork over four month’s worth of legal fees, to the tune of $890,000. Because Jamie is one of Britney’s conservators, he’s technically employed by Britney. And because of this, he’s asked her to pay his legal fees. According to People magazine, Lynne believed that some of the fees were “procedurally and substantively improper.” Aka Lynne was sort of implying that Holland & Knight might be scamming Britney, just a bit.

Lynne claimed some of the billing made to Britney was “unnecessary,” and asked a court to review several costs charged for Britney, along with the demand that $224,000 be returned to Britney immediately. Lynne claimed that $224k was in relation to Holland & Knight communicating with the press, and she accused them of attempting to spin or combat any bad stories about Jamie. Oh, like the reports that Jamie might be exploiting his daughter, those ones? Yeah, Jamie doesn’t like those, and he certainly doesn’t like Lynne’s attempts to get Britney some of her money back. via People magazine:

In a new court filing obtained by PEOPLE, Holland & Knight asked the court to overrule her mother Lynne’s objection to the firm’s fees, calling it meritless and stating it holds “evidence bias.” The document defends the firm’s actions related to “media matters” and describes Jamie as a “fiercely loving” father.

“Despite having zero involvement in her daughter’s conservatorship until very recently, Lynne Spears is asserting claims as if she were a party directly involved in the litigation (which she is not),” the document reads.

And then Jamie’s lawyers turned the tables on Lynne, by accusing her of being the one who doesn’t have Britney’s best interests at heart. Jamie’s lawyers brought up Lynne’s 2008 tell-all memoir, Through the Storm, which they use as an example of Lynne allegedly exploiting her daughter, and heavily imply that Lynne might only be getting involved for her own self-interest. According to the documents they recently filed, Lynne allegedly doesn’t know anything about the fees related to Britney or this case, and that her claims are a “fictitious argument.

They also accuse her of being bad at math, claiming that she doesn’t have any idea how legal costs are calculated. It would appear Lynne for that $224k number by dividing $890k by 4, and Holland & Knight say that dividing by 4 only shows that Lynne doesn’t know what she’s doing. Oh, if only Britney had a song that could explain math in an easy way, but “3” only covers the numbers 1, 2, and 3, with just a brief mention of a 180-degree angle, and I’m positive geometry doesn’t apply here. But algebra might. Jamie’s legal team says they needed to run up that huge legal bill because they had to work really hard to clear Jamie’s good name from accusations of being a shady guy. Well, those lawyers aren’t done working on that. Let’s see, there are reportedly four Britney Spears docuseries in the works, multiply by a rumored Oprah interview, carry the 2. Now solve for X, with X representing how many statements Jamie Spears is going to have to release about how he’s not an exploitative piece of crap.
