Prince William Also Had Coronavirus

I know that Prince William and Duchess Kate really want to come across as the Normal People Royals, and at the very least, we know he’s got the ironic bad luck of a normal person. Because just a month after he was allegedly cracking jokes about getting the coronavirus, Prince William allegedly got coronavirus.

Sources tell The Sun that William was “hit pretty hard” by the COVID-19 virus when he tested positive in April. William reportedly got coronavirus after his father, Prince Charles tested positive and went public. Prince Charles got corona at the end of March, and William tested positive in April. And just like his dad, William quarantined at one of his family’s mansions. But don’t you dare picture William flopped on the couch in his sweatpants, binge-watching old episodes of Love Island, and summoning a servant to top up his pint glass with more Gatorade. William continued to work, even as he was battling COVID with all his strength. via The Sun:

“At one stage he was struggling to breathe, so obviously everyone around him was pretty panicked. After seeing medics and testing positive – which was obviously quite a shock given how fit and healthy he is – William was determined it should be business as usual though. He was determined to fulfil his engagements.”

The Duke was treated by palace doctors, and followed government guidelines by isolating at the family home Anmer Hall, in Norfolk. Remarkably, he carried out 14 telephone and video call engagements during April.

As for why we’re learning that William allegedly had coronavirus more than seven months later, The Sun’s sources say that was a deliberate choice by William.

William told one observer at an engagement: “There were important things going on and I didn’t want to worry anyone.”

To be honest, I would have worried. The first and second in line to the throne getting a deadly, mysterious virus at the same time? That’s the kind of news that makes a person start picturing Prince George ascending to the throne, and immediately using his power to declare every country in the commonwealth replace God Save The Queen with the PJ Masks theme song.

But naturally, Prince William recovered fine. Last month, Prince William joined his grandmother Queen Elizabeth on her first official visit outside her home, which was notable due to the fact that neither were wearing masks during their visit. Prince William has held a socially distanced (but also maskless) visit at his home with 94-year-old David Attenborough. Of course, both of these happened six months after William had coronavirus. But you can’t tell me that had this information not been public, that Sir David’s nervous old senior DNA might have kicked in, and responded to that invitation by asking for the Cambridges address so he can FedEx Prince George’s shark tooth instead.
