Queen Elizabeth Made Her First Public Appearance Since The Pandemic, And She Didn’t Wear A Mask
Ever since the beginning of the COVID-19 lockdown in the UK, Queen Elizabeth has been holed up at Windsor Castle to stay safe, or in 99-year-old Prince Philip’s case, to make sure death doesn’t take him a day before his 100th birthday party. She and Philip took a brief summer break at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, then spent some time at her Sandringham Estate in Norfolk last month. She recently returned to Windsor Castle, while Philip hung back at Sandringham.
She’s only had one public engagement since the UK went into lockdown, which was a knighting ceremony she hosted at Windsor Castle for a spry oldie named Tom Moore who raised $40 million for the NHS by doing laps with his walker in his garden (no I’m not making that up). But that was in her backyard, so she was likely back inside before her tea got cold, and can you really count that as a gig? So here’s what The Queen was up to on her first real official outing back among the peasants. .
People magazine says that Liz and Prince William visited a “top-level lab” in Salsbury today. They didn’t sit down with a super-smart hunting dog, I’m sorry to tell you. It was a science lab called the Defense Science and Technology Laboratory. The Queen’s people assure us that proper social distancing protocols were followed, even though no one in these pictures is wearing a mask. The royal tailor couldn’t throw together a coordinating dusty-rose silk-blend mask to match her hat and coat? I don’t believe it.

After she got backlash for not wearing a mask, People says that everyone who met with The Queen today had tested negative for the coronavirus, including Prince William. As for what The Queen and her grandson learned while they were at the lab, we’ll only ever know the half of it, because it’s very secretive. via People:
Much of the work at the DSTL is cloaked in secrecy and, soon after they arrived, the grandmother-grandson duo toured the Energetics Enclosure, to learn more about the weaponry and tactics used in counterintelligence.
They also reportedly spoke to scientists about the coronavirus, and the possibility of increasing testing within the NHS. But I’m sure that’s not what The Queen’s favorite son, Prince Andrew, wanted to talk about when she returned home from her visit to the science lab. His ears probably perked up after hearing that the DSTL is doing secret cutting-edge work that the public doesn’t know about. I bet he suggested The Queen go back against next week and ask if they need any human guinea pigs for research. Oh you know, just in case they’re working on any top-secret matter transportation technology that might help a man, let’s say, teleport to the nearest private golf course if he thinks he hears the sound of handcuffs at his door.
