Gwen Stefani Is Engaged To Blake Shelton
I could have sworn this has happened at least twenty times before today, but no! We’ve only been talking about Gwen Stefani announcing an engagement and eventually getting married to Blake Shelton for what feels like the past 84 years. At long last, Gwen has an official engagement ring on the designated finger, that was put there by her boyfriend of five years, Blake.
51-year-old Gwen and 44-year-old Blake both announced the news earlier today on Instagram, by posting the same picture of Gwen and Blake mid-smooch while Gwen’s left hand showed off the ring. Gwen and Blake really overestimated how excited the general public would be over this news. We really just want to see the ring at this point! Did Blake design the ring? Was it made from repurposed buckshot shells? This is what the people want to know. But what Gwen and Blake gave us were simple captions like, “yes please!” from her, and “I heard a YES!” from him.
Blake and Gwen met while working on NBC’s The Voice together, and many thought their relationship might be a ratings-grabbing publicity stunt. But here we are, five years later, and it looks like they really are going through with it. That, or we’re in for another five years of 100% false headlines about “Blake & Gwen’s Baby Joy” and how she won’t walk down the aisle until he buys her another horse.
It’s been reported that Gwen, who is Roman Catholic, won’t marry Blake unless she is granted an annulment from Gavin Rossdale, who she married in September 2002, and filed for divorce in 2015 (after she allegedly caught him cheating on her with the nanny). But then we heard that Gwen will marry Blake even without the annulment. Blake has been married twice before: to his longtime girlfriend Kaynette Gern in 2003, then to Miranda Lambert in 2011. They also split up in 2015.
This is also, allegedly, the second time Blake has proposed to Gwen. Back in 2016, Radar Online reported that Blake had hid a $1.2 million diamond ring in a box of KFC. Which is very country. But she allegedly turned him down, because she just wasn’t ready yet. Maybe she was waiting for the universe to give her a stronger sign to make her country cross-over a permanent one. I bet it happened immediately after Gwen and Blake won their first joint CMT Award last week. And really, you don’t get any more country than sharing a trophy that’s a giant tacky belt buckle.
