Open Post: Hosted By Justin Timberlake Talking About His And Britney Spears’ Ultra Elegant Matching Denim Look
Ah, 2001. A simpler time. WAIT, nope. Let me be more specific. January 2001. That was a simpler time. Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake had been dating since 1998, she was hosting the AMAs, and JT was her plus one. And when those two lovefools hit the red carpet? Well, I don’t need to tell you what happened next. It’s in all the history books, right beside JLo’s green dress and Paris Hilton’s Juicy Couture tracksuits. It was denim. It was on denim. And it was matching. Many have tried to replicate that magic, but all have failed.
Justin, never one to toot his own horn, has never really acknowledged his part in fashion history. But he finally opened up while on Lance Bass’ podcast, The Daily Popcast.

“You can kind of rock that one today,” Timberlake told Bass, 40.
While Bass agreed that “denim on denim is kind of popular,” he wasn’t all for wearing it to a big event.
“You do a lot of things when you’re young and in love,” Timberlake added of his coordinating AMAs outfit with then-girlfriend Spears.
Yeah, you do do a lot of things when you’re young and in love. Like change the face of style forever! Don’t downplay it, JT. The Canadian tuxedo, rhinestone jewelry, and classic early 2000’s tinted sunglasses was the hottest you’ve ever looked. Especially since the matching denim cowboy hat mercifully hid those bleached ramen curls. You should be on your (washed) hands and knees thanking Our Lady of Cheetos for exposing you to such high fashion couture.
Other than avoiding his wife during this quarantine, JT was also on Lance’s podcast to talk about the 20th anniversary of *NSYNC’s album No Strings Attached. You know, the CD where they’re all posed like marionettes. The last time the entire boy band, including Justin, were all together was in 2018 when they got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. But apparently they still talk.
The boy band members — including Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick, and JC Chasez — are still in touch with one another in an “ongoing group chat” and Timberlake shared he hopes to “get together and just talk” about doing a reunion.
The only way Justin Timberlake is doing an *NSYNC reunion is if it’s like one of those Destiny’s Child mini-reunions. The ones where Beyonce comes out, does ten solo songs, allows the other girls to come out for a five minute medley of former hits, then Bye Bye Byes them back to obscurity.
