Asia Argento Has More To Say About Anthony Bourdain

Do I even need to specify that it’s extremely awkward and uncomfortable? Well, maybe for the people who missed Part 1 of Asia Argento’s extremely awkward and uncomfortable interview with DailyMailTV. The DailyMailTV dropped the second half of their exclusive interview with Asia Argento today. Yesterday Asia revealed that she was very angry after learning her boyfriend Anthony Bourdain took his own life. Now Asia is talking about the accusations she faced on the internet from people who accused her of being the reason Anthony died.

Not long after the news broke of Anthony Bourdain’s suicide, Asia was seen just three days earlier with a male reporter. That’s when the rumored started that Asia was cheating on Anthony, and he was heartbroken. Asia defended herself online against people who blamed her for his death. Asia tells DailyMailTV that she understands why people needed a scapegoat, but that they came for the wrong person, because both she and Anthony were a-ok with seeing other people.

“People need to think that he killed himself for something like this? He had cheated on me too. It wasn’t a problem for us. He was a man who traveled 265 days a year when we saw each other we took really great pleasure in each other’s company. But we are not children. We are grown ups.

People say I murdered him. They say I killed him. But I understand that the world needs to find a reason. I would like to find a reason too. I don’t have it. Maybe I would feel some solace in thinking there was something that happened.”

Asia also faced an online backlash for returning to her (now former) gig on X Factor Italy. Asia went back to work the next day. People didn’t think she grieved long enough, but she says that getting back to work and hearing the music saved her life, saying the choice was “to go to work or to never get up again.

She also describes the moment when she received the call informing her that Anthony had died (she screamed, and then couldn’t stop crying). As for anyone who is wondering why Asia didn’t try to offer help before it got to this point, she says she had no idea he was suffering.

“What I do feel terrible about is that he had so much pain inside of him and he didn’t share it. I did not see it. And for that I will feel guilty for the rest of my life.”

Asia also managed to talk about her accuser Jimmy Bennett and former friend Rose McGowan. Asia maintains that she’s the victim in the Jimmy situation (he has accused her of sexually assaulting him when he was 17 and she was 37). She also spoke about her decision to pay off Jimmy after Anthony allegedly encouraged her to do so, saying they did it to “get him out of our lives.”

And she’s really pissed at Rose and Rose’s partner Rain Dove Dubilewski for allegedly spreading slanderous lies about Asia and Jimmy (Asia has threatened to sue Rose for libel). Asia is still thinking of filing a lawsuit, because Rose has “ruined” her life.

“What made me take the strength to talk to you today is the rage I felt when both Rose McGowan and Rain Dove started and kept on saying these lies about me, saying that I received nude photographs from Bennett since he was 12 years old…This has destroyed my life. These lies have destroyed my life.”

There is one tiny bright side here, and it’s all that talk from Asia about lies reminded me of that beyond-annoying Johny Johny meme. I tried everything in my power to forget that damn song about telling lies. But honestly, after watching Asia’s interview, having it stuck in my head again is kind of a nice distraction.
