Liam Payne Admits He And Cheryl Have Problems…But It Ain’t All Bad

There have been a lot of people saying Cheryl Tweedy was smart to not get hitched to Liam Payne of One Direction since she already has 90 last names and was heading for a split with him, but he says all is fine. Tension is normal, y’all!

People have been saying for a few weeks that Liam and Chezza were heading for a split, and they put on all the naughty stops at the BRITs earlier this year. Cheryl even said what their safe word was, much to the enjoyment of a neighboring Haim sister! But cynical Sallies everywhere thought that was a sham. Two egos the size of Stonehenge can’t succeed at a relationship! Some people noticed Liam ditched Cheryl to stay out later than his baby mama, and he was back to posting the kind of shameless shit on Instagram everyone his age does. But during an interview with The Evening Standard, Liam says that they have their problems, namely how he can’t understand a damn word she’s saying through that Geordie accent. Kidding! He actually said their trials and tribulations are what make it a real relationship:

“You know, we have our struggles. Like, of course I’m not gonna sit here and say that everything’s absolutely fine and dandy, because of course you go through different things, and that’s what a relationship is.”

Before you start expecting Liam to show up in South Beach with stripper residue on him, don’t fret. The One D/Girls Aloud union seems safe for now, as Liam makes it seem like this is all normal and that they’re going to keep their love machine trucking on:

“This part of our relationship was never not going to happen; there was always going to be a little bit of tenseness in the way we sort ourselves out. But tell me a relationship in the world that doesn’t go through a spot like that? It’s about whether you make it through or not, together, is the main point there, I guess.”

Cheryl’s already gone nuclear on Twitter about people saying her relationship is in trouble, and Liam even found it odd that the week before the split rumors, there were ones about how they were going to get married. Liam says he and the missus believe their son, Bear, should be kept out of the limelight and live a normal childhood. He also says this is as good as it can get relationship-wise since Cheryl gets what it’s like to have to travel everywhere, but it also means everyone is up their ass for a story:

“It’s difficult, obviously. Having someone else who’s so high-profile in the media pushes everything that I do to another level, and I think it’s weird. I feel like the press are more obsessed with it than the nation are, which is quite funny…It is about making it work for us, not making it work how people think it should work.”

This really got me thinking about what a fight in the Liam/Chezza household would look like, and I imagine it just looks like a bar fight from The Only Way Is Essex. As for reconciliation? I really just hope they fire up some of their old hits on karaoke and let the lyrics do the talking. Hit it, girls!
