It’s been more than four months since ABC cancelled Roseanne. Since then, a lot has happened. Roseanne has remained supremely messy. ABC brought back Roseanne but changed the name to The Conners. Through it all, the rest of the main cast hasn’t really said too much, save for the odd tweet denouncing Roseanne’s twitter racism, or John Goodman’s confession that he was pretty depressed when the show was canned. Well, Sara Gilbert, John, and Laurie Metcalf have been talking to People, and of course they talked about Roseanne’s exit.

Roseanne Barr tried it again with her Ambien defense when chatting with charlatan Dr. Oz in a just released a teaser trailer for a full-length interview on The Dr. Oz Show, which sounds like a fun children’s show but is anything but. In case you’ve been living on Mars this past year (btw, so jealous. You got a hookup? I’m looking to buy), Roseanne claimed that she was under the influence of Ambien when she tweeted some racist shit that got her fired from her sitcom. As a “medical” “professional”, Doc Oz is uniquely qualified to determine whether or not Roseanne’s Ambien defense holds water. Big surprise here guys, it does not.
John Goodman Says He Was Depressed When ABC Cancelled “Roseanne”
When ABC announced they were cancelling the Roseanne revival after Roseanne Barr let loose with some racism on Twitter, it seemed like many from the cast (like Sara Gilbert) were quick to agree that the right decision was made. Not John Goodman though, who when asked about the situation with Roseanne back in May, would only say he didn’t know anything about it and that he doesn’t read anything. It turns out John maybe wasn’t doing much reading or wasn’t too enthusiastic to talk because the show’s cancellation put him in a pretty dark spot.

Only a week ago, Roseanne Barr bragged to her friend Rabbi Shmuley Boteach that she had traded in Roseanne’s famous couch afghan for a blanket woven from TV offers. Roseanne even promised that she’d be doing a TV interview very soon, her first since ABC fired her for her racist tweet about Valerie Jarrett. But Roseanne’s first interview is going to be on YouTube instead of TV.

Roseanne has issued some excuse-heavy apologies on Twitter, like saying her Planet of the Apes crack was really about anti-semitism.
