Roman Polanski Still Can’t Be A Member Of The Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences
Roman Polanski, a name that is bound to make you feel grosser than when you find someone else’s hair in your food, or accidentally drinking long-expired milk. And why is that? Oh, you know, just the fact that he’s got a whole Wikipedia section dedicated to his extensive history as a predator. But Roman Polanski still doesn’t realize that many people don’t want to much to do with him these days. Like the entire board of the César Awards, who quit after his film J’Accuse was nominated this year, and were equally pissed when he ended up winning. Or the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, aka the Oscars people. They made it very clear they didn’t want Roman Polanski as a member of their Board of Governors, and yet, Roman keeps trying to get back in. Once again, the AMPAS has unceremoniously shooed him away. Take a hint, Roman.
The 2021 Oscars Might Be Postponed Due To The Coronavirus
Are you a fan of long-winded, rambling acceptance speeches? Were you eagerly anticipating the chance to see previous Best Supporting Actor winner Brad Pitt announce the Best Supporting Actress winner by winking and saying, “C’mon up here and get yer trophy, darlin“? If you answered yes to either of those, I have terrible news for you. There’s a chance you’re going to have to wait a while for the 93rd Academy Awards. Variety is reporting that the 2021 Oscars will “likely” be postponed.
Bradley Cooper Tells Oprah He’s Embarrassed Over Not Getting A Best Director Oscar Nomination
It’s bad enough to not get an Oscar nomination, but it’s bad enough when Oprah – of all people – comes around to rub salt in the wound and be all, “Whyyyyy didn’t you getttttt the nomin-AAAAAAA-tionnnnnn?!” OK, she wasn’t that dramatic. For once. Oprah had Bradley Cooper on for a SuperSoul Conversations event in New York City, and Oprah really just addressed the scream-singing elephant in the room by saying she was surprised Bradley wasn’t nominated for a Best Director Oscar for A Star Is Born. Rather than run off the stage sobbing, Bradley kinda shrugged and said he wasn’t surprised – just embarrassed.
Angelina Jolie’s “First They Killed My Father” Didn’t Make The Oscar Foreign Film Shortlist
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced their nine-film shortlist for Best Foreign Language Film yesterday (it will be narrowed down to five when the official nominations are announced on January 23rd). Despite getting nominated for a Golden Globe, Cambodian entry First They Killed My Father didn’t make Oscars’ shortlist. Oh no, I’ve seen Maleficent; I know what happens when Angelina Jolie doesn’t get invited to the party. Whoever runs the red carpet at the Dolby Theater might want to prepare for a chance of rain, wind, hail, snow, and possibly fire on Oscar night.
