Ashlee Simpson Talked About Her “Saturday Night Live” Lip-Synch Train Wreck

Ashlee Simpson and her husband Evan Ross, known to us as Miss Diana Ross’ son, are continuing to milk money out of their family names by doing a reality show for E!, which premieres next month. To promote her show, Ashlee talked to E! News and I guess Evan was busy doing something because he doesn’t get quoted at all. Ashlee has been out of the game for a while. Her last album came out in 2008 and her MTV show ended three years before that. Ashlee talked about getting back into music, but who cares about that when she talks about the cringeworthy moment most of us know her from.

As you remember, Ashlee was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live back in October 2004 when Jude Law was the host. Ashlee got out on stage, ready to break it down, but instead of getting out there and stunning us with a Wow! performance she went out there and stunned us with a Whoops! performance. Which is honestly, just as entertaining, but not for any reason which is good.

Oh god, look at that jig. Whoever says Ashlee Simpson hasn’t contributed to the culture needs to watch this video.

Ashlee had no problem talking to E! about that time she got caught lip-syncing in front of millions of people since to her it’s ancient history:

“It’s definitely not difficult to talk about…that was a very long time ago… It’s something that happened to me and things in life happen to you and they make you stronger and they make you a better performer, a better person. I think things like that build your character and your strength and it’s how you handle them.”

Can’t wait to see how Ashlee has grown up since the early 2000s. If the other people famous from then are any indication: she’s probably the exact same. I mean come on, The Hills is coming back, Ashlee Simpson is coming back, Paris Hilton still hates Lindsay Lohan, who is also going to be back on our screens: am I in a time warp? If Von Dutch caps make comeback, I will curse them all.

Here’s Ashlee and Miss Diana Ross’ son at a Michael Jackson birthday event in Las Vegas last night.
