Chrissy Teigen And John Legend Welcomed Their Fourth Child Via Surrogate

Today, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend took to Instagram to announce the arrival of their fourth child, a son named Wren Alexander Stephens. Wait, didn’t Chrissy already have her baby? And wasn’t it a girl named Esti? Or was that a Mandela Effect false memory, a la Mr. Monopoly wearing a monocle? Turns out Esti is real. She was born in January. People reports that baby Wren was born via surrogate last Monday, June 19. Ahhh, the ol’ scrunched-up surrogate timeline. Back in the day, two babies born less than a year apart would be called “Irish twins.” Now, they’re referred to as “back-to-back Baldwinitos.”

Chrissy posted a lengthy statement about Baby #4 Wren came to be. She writes that she’s always wanted four kids, but after losing her son Jack in 2020, she didn’t think she’d be able to carry any more babies. She writes:

In 2021, we reached out to a surrogacy agency, with our first correspondence inquiring about perhaps having 2 tandem surrogates, to each bring us a healthy baby boy or girl. Twins, kinda?!

But, after a therapy session, Chrissy told John she wanted to try to carry a baby again. So they “restarted the IVF process, the same process that gave us our beautiful Luna and Miles.” It worked, and that’s how Chrissy got pregnant with Esti. But the couple continued to pursue their surrogacy with surrogate Alexandra. The first embryo didn’t survive, but the second did. Alexandra was pregnant with a celebrity baybay!:

As we crept toward the safe zone of my own pregnancy, we were overjoyed to learn Alexandra had become pregnant with a little boy. Our little boy. We ate hot pot to celebrate, watched Vanderpump Rules with our growing bellies, our families blending into one for the past year.

Just minutes before midnight on June 19th, I got to witness the most beautiful woman, my friend, our surrogate, give birth amidst a bit of chaos, but with strength and pure joy and love.

We want to say thank you for this incredible gift you have given us, Alexandra. And we are so happy to tell the world he is here, with a name forever connected to you, Wren Alexander Stephens. Our hearts, and our home, are officially full. And to our Jack, we both know their angel kisses are from you.

That’s quite the head of hair. And what do we think of the name Wren? Obviously, a wren is a tiny brown bird. Google says, “For such a small bird, it has a remarkably loud voice.” They’re also known to sing beautiful, complex songs. So, if Wren lives up to his name, he’ll be mouthy like his ma and musically talented like his pa. Perfect!
