Lindsay Lohan Covers Allure And Talks About Her Husband, Her Pregnancy, And Dubai

Lindsay Lohan covers this month’s Allure, and in the interview, she talked about her pregnancy, her marriage to financier Bader Shammas, and living in Dubai. 36-year-old Lilo says she loves Dubai cuz it’s “the same thing every day,” and she craves structure. In the article, Allure’s Brennan Kilbane writes that Dubai is a wonderful place to live for someone “internationally famous” and “lavishly financed” like Lindsay. Mainly because the paparazzi is illegal there. But Brennan also points out that, for “many other demographic groups,” it can be “much less wonderful.” Translation: they don’t love basic human rights over there (DON’T TELL LINDSAY).

Lindsay moved out of the U.S. in 2014 at age 27. She lived in London for a while, and her 2015 move to Dubai “happened organically.” Lindsay lives in a villa by the beach, and every morning, she has tea, yogurt, a smoothie, and a workout. Better than her old morning routine: sleep in ’til 5:00 PM:

“Sometimes, I call it The Truman Show, because it’s the same thing every day,” she says, fizzing into laughter. “But I love it. I really love structure because I don’t think I had that when I was young. Everything was coming so fast and I had so many things happening. My only structure was filming and being on set.”

As for the future of her career, Lindsay says she’d like to produce more romantic comedies:

“I know that arena so well,” she says. “I’ve dreamed of working with Scorsese and del Toro, but I’m not going to try and exec-produce their movies. I’m not going to be like, ‘Oh, I want to do a Marvel.’”

Lohan considers the possibilities: “Do I want to build my own brand? Do I want to relaunch a new production company? All of these kinds of things I can take time to think about.” Dubai, she says, “gives me that space to have my own vision of what I need to do next.”

Lindsay met her husband at a restaurant in Dubai. She said they spoke for two hours that first night: “I said to him, ‘I feel like you’re the person I’m going to be with forever.'” They married last April, but Lindsay won’t share any more details. In late 2022, Lindsay was in NYC doing press for her Netflix rom-com, Falling for Christmas, when she told momma Dina Lohan she thought she might be pregnant. When she got back to Dubai, she took a test, and “the positive result appeared almost instantly”:

She walked into the next room and announced the news to her husband. “It was so unexciting,” she remembers, relaying the anecdote through giggles. “I walked into the room, I threw the test down. I was like, ‘Guess what?’ He goes, ‘We are?’” They were, about five and a half weeks.

“I can’t wait to see what the feeling is and what it’s like to just be a mom,” Lohan says over Zoom. She has always felt maternal, especially toward her siblings, of which she is the eldest. But she knows, in ways unknowable, that what lies ahead is unlike any feeling she has experienced. She’s been crying lately, moved to tears by simple gestures, or a baby shower. “Happy tears. That’s just who I am,” she says. “Though now, it’s probably baby emotion.”

Lindsay says being pregnant is “overwhelming, in a good way.” She also reveals that her Freaky Friday co-star, Jamie Lee Curtis, gave her some working-mom advice: “She was like, ‘You just bring the baby with you and everything will be fine.'” And what was Dina Lohan’s parenting advice? Probably something about how it’s technically not illegal to bring a baby into a bar…
