Both Adele And Ed Sheeran Have Reportedly Turned Down An Offer To Perform At King Charles’ Coronation

King Charles must know at this point nobody likes him. Because after Queen Elizabeth‘s passing last year, people have not taken too kindly to him or his ride-or-die wife Queen Consort Camilla. But none of that matters! He is now King and will be the star of his own coronation in May. However, there are two people he wanted to incorporate into the fun who do not want to be bothered with him at all. So when he looks into his sea of subjects for crimson-coiffed chanteuse Ed Sheeran and crybaby crooner Adele, King Charles can rest assured they will not be there for two very different reasons.
King Charles’ coronation will be taking place on May 6, so preparations are underway to make sure it is the most English ascension we’ve ever seen. I’m assuming Prince William and Duchess Kate will fake-smile behind wide eyes hoping Harry and Meghan don’t show up with a camera crew to document how much everyone hates them (which would make a great reality special for Hulu). But at the base, Charles just wants to awkwardly wave and ingest a buffet of crumpets to mark the momentous occasion. And in the background, he wanted Ed and Adele to sing a beautiful rendition of God Save The King but according to OK! Magazine, that ain’t happening.
Organizers of the event shared that the King specifically wanted the pair appear, with an insider spilling, “The King has suggested a number of people he would like to perform and Adele and Ed were on that list. He was very keen that they were part of the concert.”
“There is a team set up to get the talent signed up so they approached the two of them, but got replies saying that they were unavailable, which was a massive disappointment, ” the source added. “They are titans of the showbiz industry and are quintessentially British but also known across the globe. It’s such a shame.”
The Shape of You singer, 32, was unable to attend due to a scheduling conflict. The songwriter noted that he had a concert in Texas the day before the coronation concert and the Texas show might make it difficult to get to the royal celebration.
Luckily Ed had an excuse that didn’t sound like “I don’t fuck wit’ CHOOOOO!” because Adele had no other reason to ignore his request besides “I don’t know her“.
However, [Adele] turned down the invitation without explanation. The star does not have a gig scheduled for May 7, in fact she is not scheduled to perform publicly after March 25.
A few other performers like Lionel Ritchie and potentially Harry Styles may perform. But if Adele would rather shave her toes, or whatever other reason she can come up with, just cancel the whole thing. And go get a cake from Sainsbury’s and hope Prince Harry and Meghan Markle fly in for a slice.
