King Charles Reportedly Wants Prince Back In The Family And At His Coronation

King Charles’ big deal coronation ceremony is happening on May 6 at Westminster Abbey. A couple of weeks ago, British media reported that Charles actually wanted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at the crowning, allegedly because he felt their absence would be “more distracting” than their presence. This week, a source told People that, yes, Charles wants his son at his coronation cuz, if they don’t make peace, their estrangement “will always be part of the King’s reign.” The king also doesn’t want people to keep thinking of him as a “distant parent.” Um, I’d say “distant parenting” is as synonymous with the British royal family as ridiculous hats and sex scandals.

via People:

“It is such a momentous occasion for Charles, and he would want his son to be at the coronation to witness it. He would like to have Harry back in the family,” the source says. “If they don’t sort it out, it will always be part of the King’s reign and how he has left his family disjointed. He has had a reputation as a distant parent, and it would be awful for him for that to continue.”

A royal expert, Robert Lacey, adds that “apart from [Charles’] paternal hope to reunite with his son,” one of the king’s royal duties is “showing how to cope with the problems we all have in a human and thoughtful way.” Wait, are people really looking to the royals for inspiration on how to live their life? Look to a famous actor or musician like a normal person! Robert adds:

“It is almost insulting to ask, ‘When are they going to kiss and make up?’ ” Lacey says of the strain that separates Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from some other members of the royal family.

“There have been some very grave disagreements between them. But the Platinum Jubilee [in June 2022] and the funerals of the Queen and Prince Philip did demonstrate that they could put personal enmity aside for the sake of the bigger cause,” he points out. “And that is what the coronation will be all about.”

Yesterday, Page Six reported that King Charles was greeting royal fans at the University of East London’s Campus, when somebody yelled, “Can you bring back Harry?” Charles didn’t hear this clearly at first, and asked, “Who?” When the dude answered, “Harry, your son!”, Charles nervously laughed and moved on with his very important handshaking. Here’s the vid:

Honestly, Charles’ reaction wasn’t too bad. An awkward chuckle is a helluva lot better than spitting on the ground or hissing something like, “The spare? He’s dead to me.” There’s hope for this family yet…
