Lake Bell Joked That She’s A Much Better Mother When She’s Stoned
People reports that Lake Bell (not to be confused with Sea Chime or Ocean Gong) has written and directed a short film/commercial to promote Cann cannabis drinks. The campaign debuted at the company’s premiere party on Wednesday, and Lake took part in a panel about normalizing weed. During the chat, Lake claimed that she “can’t get through the holidays without” marijuana and says that she’s “a better parent” when she’s stoned. CoCo just breathed a big-bootied sigh of relief. Today, the mommy shamers have a new target.
People has the video of the panel, but here’s exactly what she said:
“I am straight up a better parent when I’m just two Canns in. I’m like on their level,” Bell explained. “I’m just like, ‘That is a fucking crazy dinosaur!’ Like, ‘Let’s get on the ground right now and be fucking crazy dinosaurs, let’s open some presents. I become literally a kid.”
Lake has two kids: 8-year-old daughter Nova and 5-year-old son Ozgood. Sounds like she named them when she was high as well. Lake co-parents with her ex-husband, tattoo artist Scott Campbell. After they separated in 2020, Lake briefly dated comedian Nick Thune. Then, this past summer, she was linked to Chris Rock. In October, she was spotted vacationing with Chris in Mexico alongside his friends Woody Harrelson, Matthew McConaughey, Anthony Kiedis, Flea, and their partners. I wonder how many weed drinks it took to get through that one…
I, for one, love my nightly 5 mg weed drink. And, listen, I don’t have kids, so I can’t comment on Lake’s claims that the drinks make you a better mother. However, I can confirm that they make me a much better daughter. If my mother calls me when I’m high, I am curious, thoughtful, and supportive. “Oh? There was drama at your book club? Fill me in on every teeny-tiny detail, Mommy dearest, and I shall respond with advice and validation from the deepest depths of my heart.” It’s a stark contrast to our conversations when I’m sober: “I don’t have time for this, get a therapist. Loveyoubye.”
