Ireland Baldwin Says She Doesn’t Get An Allowance From Her Parents, But Does Acknowledge Her Privilege

Most of us don’t give any thought to Ireland Baldwin unless someone just said “rude,” “thoughtless,” “little,” or “pig” in any capacity and it flashed us right back to that infamous 2007 voicemail, but apparently, she has a TikTok account and has recently taken to it to post several replies to people in the comment section questioning how she makes her money. According to TooFab, Ireland wanted to set the record straight; and while she acknowledges the financial and nepotistic privileges that her famous parents, Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin, afforded her, she sometimes models and now “works” and doesn’t get an allowance from them, ok?!

It seems like the looming question in the air of Ireland’s TikTok comments section was “what does this girl do?” So, she decided to list the many random, fledgling career prospects she’s working on at the moment.

The 26-year-old daughter of Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger took to TikTok to respond to a fan asking, “Do you work?” While Ireland said the commenter may have been genuine with the question, she added that one she gets all the time — and often in a demeaning, passive-aggressive way.

“I am a business owner,” she began, sharing that she and her boyfriend RAC are going into business. “We are opening up a café, wine bar and a boutique. And we are starting a brand together,” she added.

Ireland noted that she’s working to start her own animal rescue, saying that being a “foster rescue dog mom” is a big part of her life. “I work in adoption, I work with a lot of fosters and a lot of rescuers,” she continued.

And she’s also a screenwriter! Though, she hasn’t done anything yet.

Among her projects, Baldwin added that she’s a screenwriter and she and her friend recently started a production company together. “We pitch TV shows and we write movie scripts, we work on commercial stuff,” she said, “Things are just kind of getting started for us. Everyone has to start somewhere.

So, in short, the answer is: not really? Here’s her talking about her hustle. Try not to toss your phone once she starts using her Valley Girl voice to mock her detractors:

Ireland also found it important to note that she’s worked normal “hourly” jobs (for fun) before.

Though she said it wasn’t a typical 9-5, she pointed again to her work with rescue animals — and said she actually worked for her famous mother doing just that growing up.

She added that she also worked at an ice cream store for bit, before taking on two retail jobs in high school as well. Baldwin, however, also started modeling at 17, until she went to film school and started to focus on screenwriting.

And contrary to what everyone believes, Ireland says she doesn’t get an allowance from either of her loaded parents but does say she realizes the privileges that she’s had.

“My parents have helped me so much of my life. They’ve made life a lot easier for me in comparison to a lot of people,” she added. She also said living with her parents was never an option, adding that her mom shares her place with her boyfriend and the two are “living their life and doing their thing.” As for her father, he “obviously has a lot of kids … and I would never live on the East Coast anyway.”

She added it would be “fucking sick” if she did get an allowance though.

Here’s her discussing her lack of allowance. The two most interesting takeaways from this one are that it seems like she tiptoes around the fact that she doesn’t really fuck with her dad and his COO-CAHM-BEAR connoisseur wife, Hilaria Baldwin, and that the fluffy dog sitting in the back seat has an expensive busted butthole.

And while Ireland’s life may seem like the epitome of a “nepo baby” life, she says that nepotism isn’t a problem as long as the people who benefit from it admit the advantage that they have (listen up, Gwyneth Paltrow) and that there’s a lot of pain that comes with growing up in a famous family, too (like when your dad goes HAM on you on voicemail and it gets leaked?). She once again talks a lot about her mom, and that her dad…has his family and wife and lives on the East Coast.

“The only problem with being a nepotism baby is when you don’t have self awareness,” she said, saying it’s vital to acknowledge your privilege.

“Nothing is worse than when someone is born into a famous family … and they fail to, like, acknowledge how these doors were opened for them and how they’ve had it a lot easier than other people,” she said, saying there’s also “a lot of painful s— that comes with growing up in the spotlight.”

“I’m very separate from them,” she said of both parents. “I’m not hanging around them waiting for them to get me opportunities and do things. I am my own person and do my own thing, and I know that’s hard for you to maybe accept.”

Of course, Alec doesn’t send her an allowance, he has like 57 Baldwinitos with another on the way to fund in his quest to catch up with mega-daddy Nick Cannon, and probably still has lots of Rust legal expenses. And if you made it through all of those TikToks and wondered if Ireland’s Doja Cat shave means she’s having a tough time, she’s fine, so we can all go back to watching and waiting for Alec or Hilaria’s next inevitable fall from grace.
