Anne Heche Is “Expected To Pull Through” But Has A “Long Recovery Ahead” After Her Horrific Car Crash

Yesterday, the streets of Mar Vista in Los Angeles became a scene straight out of Grand Theft Auto when Anne Heche’s Mini Clubman was involved in an awful double car crash that ended with a big fire that destroyed most of someone’s house. The homeowner and her pets are okay. Anne Heche is not. She suffered severe burns and is being treated in the ICU. Anne’s rep says that she’s in stable condition, and a source says that she has a long recovery battle ahead of her.

This all started at around 11 AM yesterday when Anne’s car crashed into the garage of an apartment complex. When residents tried to help her out of the car, she allegedly backed the car up and sped out of there. Video from a home’s Ring cam shows Anne’s Mini Clubeman speeding down the street before she hit a curb, which launched her car into a home.

The second crash caused a huge fire that engulfed Anne’s car and the house. Luckily, the homeowner was in her backyard at the time and safely got out of there without injury. According to The New York Post, a neighbor was able to open the backdoor of Anne’s car to see if she was okay. She was not, of course. The neighbor says it took firefighters 30 minutes to put out the car fire before they could pull her out. She was taken to the hospital where she was intubated. It’s not known how much of Anne’s body suffered burns but the burns are severe. TMZ says that it appears that Anne had a bottle of vodka in her car, but her Blood Alcohol Content was not tested because of her condition. This is what her car looked like after the fire:

Anne’s ex Thomas Jane tells The Daily Mail that she’s in stable condition right now and will survive.

Jane, who dated in 2019 and 2020 and worked together on the HBO series Hung, told DailyMail.com: ‘While Anne and I are no longer an item, todays tragic news was devastating to me and to all who love her.

‘My heart goes out to Anne and her two sons. As of right now Anne is stable and expected to pull through. My thoughts and prayers are with Anne, one of the true talents of her generation. Thank God no one else was hurt.’

James Tupper, Anne’s ex and the father of her youngest child (Anne has two sons: a 13-year-old and a 20-year-old), also asked for prayers:

In a statement to People, Anne’s rep says that she’s in stable condition and asked for privacy:

A rep for the Emmy winner, 53, exclusively tells PEOPLE in a statement that “Anne is currently in stable condition” after the crash, which occurred in the neighborhood of Mar Vista. “Her family and friends ask for your thoughts and prayers and to respect her privacy during this difficult time,” the rep says.

And a source tells CNN that “she has severe burns and has a long recovery ahead. Her team and her family are still trying to process what led up to the crash.

Anyone who knows Anne’s story or has visited her Wikipedia page knows that she’s been through it and then some. Anne was sexually abused by her father throughout her childhood. Her father Don, who was living a double life by sleeping with men, died of AIDS in 1983 when she was 13 years old. Anne says her estranged mother Nancy, who is now a Christian therapist and anti-gay activist, was told about the abuse but was in denial about it. Just three months after the death of her father, Anne’s older brother, Nathan, died in a car crash at 18 years old. Anne says that Nathan was also abused by their father. Anne wrote in her 2001 memoir, Call Me Crazy, that she believed her brother’s crash wasn’t an accident but a suicide. Because of the abuse, Anne suffered from mental illness at a young age and later used alcohol and drugs to temporarily numb the trauma. And the day after Anne and Ellen DeGeneres announced their split in 2000, she drove to a small town outside of Fresno, CA where she ended up on a stranger’s doorstep, asked to take a shower, and claimed she was God who was going to take everyone to heaven on a spaceship. Anne later said that she had taken ecstasy before that breakdown. And while promoting her book in 2001, she said that she created a fantasy world where she was Celestia, the daughter of God, and she created that place as a safe space she could escape to.

What a sad situation all around. Hopefully, Anne recovers and gets help, and eventually, one day goes back to dissing Ellen on TikTok.
