Open Post: Hosted By Blue Ivy Carter Getting Embarrassed By Jay-Z At The NBA Finals

When most of us recall our adolescent misadventures in parental embarrassment, it’s usually something like our moms washing out Ziploc bags to reuse while friends were over or dad getting snippy with the teen who works at the movie theater concession stand over the price of a large popcorn. If you’re Blue Ivy Carter, it’s when your rap legend father, Jay-Z, dares to show affection to you on camera at the risk of messing up your coiffure when the crowd is alerted that they’ve been graced with your courtside presence.

According to Uproxx, Blue and Jay sat courtside at the NBA Finals last night, where the Golden State Warriors ended up beating the Boston Celtics. When the PA announcer mentioned that Jay-Z was there and the camera panned to him and Blue, the doting dad wrapped his arm around her while smiling widely; so Blue’s instincts kicked in and she did what any other tween would do and appeared to mumble “stahhhp my hair!” or whatever fancy variation of that a queen of her caliber would say. Blue then gives in and allows her father to kiss her cheek, probably once she realized that she was on camera. She’s not just any tween, her mom is Beyoncé, so she knows what the crowd wants. Here’s the vid:

After the game, Blue got to rub elbows with people like rapper, E-40, and Warriors player Stephen Curry, so she probably got over her humiliation pretty quickly. Parents, this just goes to show that you could be the coolest person in the room and have 24 Grammys and your kids will still think you aren’t shit, so wear the embarrassing jorts to the PTA fundraiser and reply to “dad I’m hungry!” with “hi, hungry! I’m dad!” because you literally cannot win.
