Wendy Williams Partied At A Met Gala After-Party And Claimed She’ll Be Back On TV Later This Year

The last time we checked in on the fate of Wendy Williams’ television career, it wasn’t looking so great. The situation was giving off the kind of vibes that required more of a solemn and thoughtful, “How are you doing right now?“, as opposed to her trademark upbeat, “How you doin?“. The Wendy Williams Show was officially ending and would be re-tooled as Sherri Shepherd’s show, Sherri, going forward. Wendy reportedly didn’t take that news well and has allegedly considered bringing her lawyers into it. But Wendy made an appearance at a Met Gala after-party on Monday, and she gave everyone a little update. And things sound like they’re coming up Wendy once again.

Page Six reports that Wendy showed up at a party after the Met Gala at The Standard hotel with gossip blogger Jason Lee (not Jason Lee the My Name is Earl actor, but Jason Lee the blogger who claimed Queen Elizabeth was secretly dead). Jason posted a video of himself and his informal date for the evening, as well as several pictures. And if a picture is still worth 1,000 words, at least four of those words would be, “Wendy looks pretty good!“. Wendy didn’t need a theme, she was going as Roller Disco Rainbow Brite regardless of what it said on the invite.

As you can see by that caption, Jason also did a little damage control for Wendy. Jason notes that the Wendy show, which is being temporarily hosted by Michael Rappaport this week, never mentioned Wendy’s BIG NEWS in the Hot Topics segment. But to be fair, Wendy’s BIG NEWS was delivered on the same level as your co-worker pulling you aside in the lunchroom, and whispering that they’re onto bigger and better things as they slip packets of Lipton Cup-a-Soups in their purse. Jason is referring to Wendy’s announcement that she’s planning to be back on all our TV screens very soon, maybe as early as this fall. But, that announcement didn’t come courtesy of a splashy exclusive with Deadline or Variety, but simply a casual comment given to some TMZ reporters as she enjoyed a night out on Monday. via TMZ:

Here’s Wendy’s little chat with TMZ:

Wendy can be heard in the video saying that she expects a return in “September.” Well, that’s four months away, and so far nobody knows shit about any possible television show premiere starring Wendy Williams. Plus, as TMZ notes, the production company responsible for Wendy, Debmar-Mercury, has already committed to Sherri Shepherd’s show in the fall. Who knows, Wendy might have misspoken. But, there is always a chance she didn’t, considering Debmar-Mercury currently finds themselves with one less talk show to work on, since Nick Cannon’s show Nick Cannon was canned back in March.

I’m sure there are many people who want to see Wendy back on TV, and if Wendy is feeling well enough to do that, then so be it. But personally, if Wendy is well enough to work again, I’d like to see her pivot from daytime talk TV and into investigative hidden camera journalism.
