Simon Cowell Broke His Arm In Another Electric Bike Accident

Ruh-roh! Simon Cowell has injured himself falling off an electric bike. Nope, you aren’t experiencing a blip in the Matrix. This exact thing happened back in August 2020. Simon broke his back in an e-bike accident, had to get emergency spinal surgery, and was bedridden for months. Luckily, this new injury sounds a lot less serious; the 62-year-old walked away with a mere broken arm. When reached for comment, the electric bike said, “Yeah, I thought I’d let him off easy. But next time, I’m takin’ his eyes.”

The Sun reports that Simon was e-biking around West London (sans helmet) last Thursday when he hit a wet patch on the road and crashed at 20mph. He was rushed to a hospital with a “suspected concussion and a broken arm.” A source tells The Sun that Simon is “lucky to be alive”:

He was pedalling along, with his electric motor on, when the wheels suddenly went from under him after hitting a wet patch. He slipped and went flying over the handlebars into the middle of the road.

“Stupidly, Simon wasn’t wearing a helmet, and blood was pouring from his face — he looked like something from Phantom of the Opera.

“Three kindly passers-by jumped into action, and stopped the traffic so he wouldn’t be run over. After being ambulanced to hospital and given an X-ray, Simon was eventually released that evening — his arm in a yellow cast all the way up to the shoulder — and told to rest.

The Sun’s source adds that Simon’s 7-year-old son, Eric (with his 44-year-old fiancée, Lauren Silverman) chose the yellow cast and has already doodled his name and pictures of the family dogs. Missed opportunity. I would write, “Ditch the e-bike, old man” and/or “Justice for Gabrielle Union!”

Another insider talked to People about the incident, and they were a lot less dramatic than The Sun’s source:

“He fell off his bike and broke his arm. He’s absolutely fine,” the source says, adding that Cowell is already back at home.

Last year Simon told TMZ that he’d returned to e-bike riding after his first accident, but had traded his back-breaking bike in for a less intense model. He explained that his first electric bike, a Swind EB-01 ($21,000), was “basically a motorcycle with an electric engine,” and he didn’t know how powerful it was until he got on and crashed. Simon said that his new e-bike, an M1-Spitzing ($9,000), was a lot gentler and required him to pedal:

According to The Sun, Simon has refused to quit e-biking, but he has agreed to start wearing a helmet. I dunno, man. Two injuries in under two years? Maybe electric bikes aren’t for you. Why not try a different rich-person activity? Like golfing, yachting, or betting on the Squid Game?
