Another Day, Another Project That Armie Hammer Is Stepping Away From

April 5, 2021 / Posted by:

Armie Hammer has once again freed up a whole lot of time in his schedule by dropping out of an upcoming project, for pretty much the exact reason you think is responsible for his current career transition to The Invisible Man. Seriously, name another person who can suddenly vanish from a job like Armie. I’d ask Armie’s former talent agent and publicist, but they’re likely too busy searching for new hobbies to take up, on account of all the free time they’ve suddenly found on their hands.

You might be asking yourself, “But what could Armie have possibly dropped out of, if he didn’t have any films left to leave?” As of one week ago, Armie had reportedly been let go of the last film he had in production, the thriller Billion Dollar Spy, opposite Mads Mikkelsen. This latest project was a Steppenwolf Theater production of the play The Minutes. But he’s not going to be doing that anymore, due to all the shit he’s got going on in his personal life at the moment. And yes, according to a statement released by Armie, it was his choice. via Variety:

“I have loved every single second of working on The Minutes with the family I made from Steppenwolf. But right now I need to focus on myself and my health for the sake of my family. Consequently, I will not be returning to Broadway with the production,” Hammer said in a statement on Friday.

The Minutes was set to debut in March 2020. But Coronavirus hit, and it was put on hold. It has been rescheduled to premiere in the 2021-2022 season when Broadway gets back to business. It also sounds like Armie will be missed, if the words in this statement from the production team behind The Minutes are to be believed:

“Armie remains a valued colleague to all of us who have worked with him onstage and offstage on The Minutes. We wish only the best for him and respect his decision.”

So, bye bye Broadway. Probably for the best that he stays as far away as possible. You can’t spell Broadway without the word “broad,” and we all know that guy really shouldn’t be anywhere near women. Unless it’s a woman with an LAPD detective badge, and he needs to get within 10 feet so he can hear any questions she might have about those rape allegations. This also happens to be great news for the rest of Broadway too. Armie reportedly used to call some of his victims his “kittens,” and Cats has already cornered the market on humans making disturbing cat references.
