Surprise, Surprise, Michael Strahan Didn’t Close His Gap After All
Right before April Fools’ Day, Michael Strahan announced that he had closed the gap in his front teeth with the help of cosmetic dentist, Dr. Lee Gause of Smile Design Manhattan. Well, we can all rest easy today because Michael didn’t close his gap. It was just an April Fools’ prank. You got us good, Michael.
In case you forgot, here’s what Michael’s new gap-free subway tile teeth looked like:
But it was a bigger lie than Michael’s last day on Live! when he claimed he’d totally love to come back to co-host any time. At the end of the day yesterday, Michael wrapped up April Fool’s Day by revealing that his gap, which he previously claimed he’d never, ever touch, was untouched. But not before he delivered a message on Instagram about loving yourself and embracing whatever makes you feel good about yourself. via People:
“I know a lot of you are wondering, ‘Oh, it’s gotta be April Fool’s joke, he’s gotta be joking with the teeth, he must not’ve fixed that gap, it’s his signature.’ And I’ve got to thank my boy Dr. Lee at Smile Design Manhattan, for taking care of me. And I just want to thank you guys, I appreciate all the comments. I was surprised, to be honest with you, at how many people were like, ‘No! Don’t get rid of the gap, it’s your signature!’ And I’ve always kind of looked at it that way, but I didn’t know so many people cared.
I appreciate all the love for the gap, and I’ve had it for you know, almost 50 years. And a lot of people would say, ‘You make me feel good about rocking mine’ and everything else. But I just wanted to tell you guys that I appreciate all that love that you show. Be you, live the way you want to live. Do what makes you happy, because I did. And I’m happy that I did it. And I just wanted to say…April Fool’s! The gap is here, the gap is not going anywhere for a while. My mama likes it. So, for you, mama.”
Here’s Michael’s big April Fools’ prank reveal:
It might seem like no one technically got hurt from this prank, but there was one victim here. And I’m not talking about Michael’s gums, which likely got a little sore after shoving that flipper in his mouth to film his prank video. No, I’m talking about Dr. Lee! Michael Strahan dropped Dr. Lee’s name so many times, but not in the way Dr. Lee would have liked. Dr. Lee probably thought he’d be drowning in new business. Instead, Dr. Lee probably spent the past 48 hours anxiously avoiding answering his phone and going outside, for fear of being called a smile killer.
