Princess Eugenie Is Pregnant

September 25, 2020 / Posted by:

Princess Eugenie has just earned her pick of tiaras for the next big royal public appearance (try to find one you can attach tasteful face mask straps to? We don’t know how long this thing is gonna go, Genie). Princess Eugenie and her husband of nearly two years, Jack Brooksbank, have given the royal family’s publicity department some easy to sell news in the form of a new future royal baby.

People magazine reports that Buckingham Palace confirmed Eugenie and Jack’s big baby news this morning. 30-year-old Eugenie and 34-year-old Jack’s baby is due sometime early next year, and will be the first for both of them. Naturally, all of Eugenie’s family is psyched about her baby:

In a statement, the palace said, “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr. Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in early 2021. The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York, Mr. and Mrs. George Brooksbank, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh are delighted with the news.”

I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before some hateful crumpet crust in the British press writes a follow-up to that statement that reads something about how The Queen is probably so delighted because she’ll actually get to see this one on a regular basis. Or maybe they can focus on Eugenie and Jack’s Instagram announcement, which featured a pair of fuzzy bear slippers.

Jack and I are so excited for early 2021….👶🏻

This news isn’t just about Eugenie and Jack, it’s also about Prince Andrew and Fergie Duchess of York being first-time grandparents. I’m sure they’re very excited, but one can’t help but wonder if Andrew isn’t a little bit jealous of that baby. Just think, they get to spend 9 whole months hidden away from the public, eating and drinking and sleeping and not working, unable to communicate at all with anyone on the outside. People on the outside can ask the fetus questions, and the fetus can straight-up ignore them. Eugenie’s fetus is living the dream.
